I discovered the other day that triple clicking the centre button goes back to the beginning of a track/back one track when listening to the iPod.

Makes things much easier.

Wow, great blog post here. I never knew about half of the functions on my 3G S headphones! I was wondering when I was changing the volume on the headphones why it would pause..cause I was pressing the middle button rather than the to or bottm buttons.

Funny you should mention the earbud-falling-out-of-the-left-ear thing. This drove me nuts for the first few days, but then I figured out that if I took out the earbud, twisted it through 360 degrees and put it back in, it was fine. Sounds nuts, but I think it has something to do with the way the wires were coiled up in the original packaging – when the earbud is in your ear its like it is trying to uncoil still and in the process ‘twisting’ itself out of your ear. I know, I know. It sounds nuts but it works for me every time.

@alikat – Ah yes the old falling out the ear issue. This happened to me all the time and my fix for this is to put the left one in your right ear and the right one in your left ear. You’ll find they stay in place much better that way.

I am sure Apple did this on purpose to increase the sales of the “in ear” headphones they sell.

I’m very disillusioned with the Apple headset I got with my 3G. Every two steps and the left ear bud always falls out. Very annoying on a 3km walk!

I bought it from the Vodafone Online store. Pretty sure it was sealed when I got it…

Maybe in the unpackaging excitement I didn’t grab the new headphones out of the box and have been using my old ones… will check the 3GS box when I get home
