iPhone OS 3.1.2 released: Reminder not to update if tethering required on anyone but Voda

Update time!

Update time!

Yes folks, it’s update time! Bit of a minor one, this, which purports to fix issues we’ve never even seen. Still, no reason to not go ahead and update UNLESS you’re still holding onto 3.0.1 to avoid losing tethering on XT or 2degrees. If you are, don’t update to this… remember, only Vodafone customers can use tethering on 3.1 upwards at this stage.

    I have experienced the first two issues mentioned, did a wierd little lockup trying to wake after being locked in standby. Also have been dropping cellular network more since updating to 3.1. So I guess I’ll have to dig out the laptop again…

    Yea same actually – I have experienced all three issues!

    I was pressing the sleep/wake button a bit too fast one time maybe a couple of weeks ago and the screen wouldn’t come back on! I was freaking out so after maybe a few mins of trying to reset it, it reset – phew.

    Last week I sent a txt at about 12.30pm, I accidentally pressed the “Flight Mode” button at about 9.00pm that night, turned “Flight Mode” back off and 3 txts came that was sent early in the day! (1pm-7pm)

    The video bug is an old one from 3.0 I think as for example when you have YouTube streaming a video over WiFi, pause it, wait for it to fully load, then press play, it freezes and exits. This happens half the time and sometimes happens on video PodCasts.

    Have had the network lockup issue on a 3G making the phone almost unusable with 3.1. This upgrade to 3.1.2 has largely resolved this (the XT network fades in and out a bit but at least it doesn’t freeze the phone up anymore), so I’d highly recommend to anyone experiencing similar issues. I understand this has been a fairly common issue globally – check out the Apple forums – last time I looked there were 64 pages of complaints re similar issues!

    I have just updated my iPhone to the NEW 3.1.2 today morning & found that there is a lag when you try to acess your screen by sliding unlock key on the display & try to enter the password on the phone. Anyone experiencing the same problem as me?

    @alopes – Nope… no lag here. Try a reboot.

    Wonder if this would be the solution… http://www.ihackintosh.com/2009/10/enable-tetheri…

    These methods are good but all require you to jailbreak your iPhone. We are looking for a solution without having to do that.
