MenuMania Coming Soon
If you’re anything like us you’ll love eating out… If you’re anything like us you’ll also own an iPhone (of course you do that’s why you’re here). Well, courtesy of MenuMania you’ll soon be able to find the best restaurants, cafes and pubs, from around New Zealand, straight from your pocket. Being a user of MenuMania myself, I am really looking forward to the release of this and as soon as it is here I’ll let you know. Video and Press Release after the break.

MenuMania for iPhone also provides location awareness via iPhone’s integrated GPS to help you find places to eat near to your location.Features:
Simple yet flexible search – You can search for a keyword (e.g. ‘Sushi’) a cuisine (e.g. ‘Italian’), a restaurant name or, for a broad search, just specify a location.Near me – Discover places to eat near you (useful if you don’t know the area). Drag the search radius slider up or down to find places within walking or driving distance using iPhone’s integrated GPS.
Reviews & Ratings – See thousands of reviews of restaurants and cafes directly where you are in an area. You can submit your own reviews at www.menumania.co.nz
Photos – A feast for the eyes: Flick through the slideshow photos to build up an appetite.
Maps – Just tap the address of the restaurant to see a map with the restaurant location marked with a pin. One-tap button also provided to launch Maps application for driving directions.
Restaurants info – The MenuMania app displays a list of features and details for the venues (e.g. wheelchair access, outdoor dining, price range, opening hours, parking details, payment methods and more).”
Available this morning so gave it a download. Nice and simple and reasonable first release. A lot of potential it can tap into. However it is very buggy at the moment so will try and contact developer with as many of the details, as I would like to use this app. eg Problems with it displaying two location fields, not all maps resolving (showed globe and no pin) – yet restart the app and worked properly for a while. Possibly memory leak? Mail link crashed.
Some UI enhancements would be great. Some of the text is automatically resized to fit on a single line and becomes unreadable, and info was truncated.
Does not appear to be consistent sorting of search results. A little more information displayed may help.
