The app currently requires a network connection (wifi/3G). If you're concerned about data usage, the photos and map features can consume quite a few KB. Searching and search result requests are relatively small.

We're considering a local device database, but the app will always work best with a connection for up-to-date content like reviews and photos.

PS: Thanks for the review write-up. We're receiving a ton of feedback at the moment (which is great!).. Our list of fixes/features for the next release is growing fast.
