To get “street talking” you need to choose one of the voices that has TTS next to it – only these ones do the “street talking”. I think they have changed the voices with TTS.

Deleted it and resync and it worked, strange.

Anyway used it today and there was no street by street talking, just left left at 3 exit etc etc…is there something I have done or have Sygic changed a few things?

The 3G icon does not change when data is being used.

The maps are stored on in the app so no, a data connection is not required.

I’ve just purchased this last week after reading this great site and others. I took it for a test drive up north in the weekend, and have upgraded on my return. A great app all round, with a some “features” well published on the web.

Images are clear, menu and GUI easy to use. GPS locate and route recalculations are real fast. After incoming calls it returns to GPS app, but when making outgoing calls (normally through voice control using a handsfree unit)you have to click the app icon and click the safety message prompt, but then it quickly returns to route – this is a bit irritating.

One observation is that speed limit sign does not always show, and is not always totally accurate – but when working it does the trick and reminds me to slow down. The music fade is much improved for this version, the previous one would fade, stop, your hear the TTS and then return to normal mode – it is much more seamless.

Address entry can be painful if you don’t enter the proper region or part of the city you are in – you drill down rather than up from street name.

I also have purchased a Parrot MKi9200 handsfree unit which is generally pretty good, however TTS does not work when listening to the radio, only when listening to iphone/ipod music, where as it did with the previous version of of Sygic, although having said that I have also upgraded the Parrot software – from what I’ve read this is probably related to the Parrot software. Having said that its a good way of silencing the TTS for those parts of the route you do know

I can recommend this app, it has its “features”, but from what I’ve read they all do

Installed, works perfectly, no obvious changs noticed except I noticed that it removed my Home address, but I put it again, no biggie.

I was hoping the map update would include the new Motorway 20 extension in Mt Roskill, but that's still not there. I trust it will be in a following update :-)

Does Sygic now require a data connection? A friend of mine said they were in Melbourne and had to turn on roaming to get it to work. They have the NZ/AU version.

And now I notice that the 3G icon goes blue when launching Sygic (you can just see it for a sec before the app loads)?

I hope not because I don't want to enable roaming when in Australia.

    Any one else notice this?
