The very (very) last-minute gift solution: iTunes email and printable gift certificates

Hey, forgetful. You're in luck.

Hey, forgetful. You're in luck.

Did you forget somebody on your Christmas list? Perhaps you just realised you’ve been a little too frugal with little Johnny’s Christmas payload this year and now you’re looking to top it up? Well, the shops may be too packed to even consider going back to, or perhaps you’re reading this on Christmas morning and it’s too late, but there’s one last minute solution that might just save the day: Email or printable gift certificates from iTunes.

As well as buying gift certificates in-store, you can also purchase them directly from within iTunes and email them to your recipient or print them out right there-and-then to pop in a card. And the best thing about it is that hey! It’s iTunes! So the lucky recipient will be able to redeem their certificate against music, movies or even iPhone apps. Gift certificates can be purchased in values starting from $20 up to $100 and a personal message can be added to give it that ‘look this was planned from the outset, never mind that I just printed it’ look.

Particularly suitable for kids is the ability to gift an iTunes Allowance – this allows you to add a set monthly amount to the balance of either an existing iTunes account or you can set up a new one if the recipient is new to iTunes. Again, the amounts can be set from $20 to $100 with several options in-between. I think just about any kid with a new iPod for Christmas would be stoked with this as an additional delighter.

Either way, there are no longer any excuses to not be bearing gifts!
