Hey i had this and then i updated itunes to 4.0.0 and went to put this back on but now it wont work – you say that you no longer offer support for the carrier bundles as they are outdated as of OS 4.x – is this the same as updating the new itunes? i really dont know much.

I was just wondering if there was another way i can get something similar to this as i cant use the voice mail on my iphne.

Hey,

Recieved my Iphone today and have popped my XT sim card in it,
Have tried to download the carrier bundle and I have watched the video available through iphonenewzealand to have it set up but after downloading it I get as far as the shif and click check for updates and then it tells me when the box comes up to change the right hand box to iphone configuration but when trying to do that it doesn’t give me that option,

Is anyone able to help me?

It also seems that when downloading the file I dont have some of the files that they talk about on the video!

@ meceo: Hi Meceo. Tethering does work with the bundle under the current OS (3.1.3). If it isn’t working for you then it means that you’ve gone wrong somewhere, otherwise this thread would be full of angry iPhone owners shouting the same thing. Try a reboot (a full reboot where you hold both the home button and sleep button, keep holding them until the Apple logo shows up and then let go). If that doesn’t work then backup your iPhone, restore it in iTunes and try again.

If you’ve got the developer preview of OS4 running this won’t work (in fact the bundles don’t work full-stop right now with OS4).

hello,
i uploaded the carrier bundle and now my Tethering has stoped working (it disappeared from my phone). can you please explain why this would have happened as your bundle says it will work. i really needed tethering for work and held off until i read that you guys had a fix.

Yes I have tethering turned on now! Thanks for emailing me the file. Actually I have worked out it was my stupidity in not directing the installation to look at the desktop and it was reading the old download from the documents folder.

I just downloaded the files from the link on this site and the IPCC custom files are, as Dan pointed out, created 06/02/2010 so perhaps you have an old copy storth? (i checked Mac and PC versions)

The “Fix iTunes.bat” in the PC bundle is dated 28/07/09 but that only enables you to fix iTunes to allow you to install the custom .ipcc file that is stored in the “carrier bundle” folder.

The new XT carrier bundle seems to still have the file from July 2009 and therefore doesnt update and allow tethering to show on the iphone. Anyone have any ideas or point me to the correct link. I can only find the old file.

@ Username 3.0: Yup, absolutely you can. There is no dependency on Vodafone to activate an iPhone, it will work on any carrier out of the box if it is bought in NZ

Can you activate a new iphone without a Vodafone sim?
ie. i want to buy a new iphone when the next model comes out and i don’t want to have to buy a Vodafone prepay sim to activate it.

Hopefully by then telecoms micro sims will be available and the xt bundle will be working on os4.

I have an Apple MacBookPro, OS10.5.8, and and iPhone 16GB Version 3.1.3(7E18) Model131X. I have installed iTunes 9.1. I am trying to configure the iPHone to comnnect with the internet and with Telecom email. I've been to this website, followed all the steps, but when I get to iTunes Fix, nothing happens, and in the carier bundle folder, I cannot open Telecom_nz.ipcc

Where have I gone wrong?

I should add that I can access some emails (from one of my three email addresses via Orcon linked to Compmass, when I'm at home and in range of my wireless modem.

Can someone just confirm for me that it is ok to download xt carrier bundle onto a 2g phone that is unlocked and jailbroken??It works on vodafone, just not xt

Unfortunately not, that code no longer works and hasn't done so since about firmware 3.0 (I think). The only way to do it now is to install the bundle.

Cheers! Not fussed at all with the logo or lack thereof. I did find a "code" of sorts that seemed to work for others where you put in a series of numbers and * and # and your voicemail # (083210) but it didn't work for me.

I guess if I want to use this feature I will either have to wait for a separate setting or download above as you suggest.

There was a manual way to set it I think (which I don't think is possible anymore) but it's MUCH easier to just get the carrier bundle, and you get a nice logo up top too instead of a scrolling TelecomNZ. It will retain all your settings and it certainly won't break anything.

I have an iphone 3Gs, running update 3.1.3. The phone has been on XT since I got it last year. I have managed to get all the details I needed for my settings for data, mms and tethering which is a breeze with my macbook pro. The one thing I cannot get to work is the VOicemail button. I am reluctant to download all the other info in the carrier bundle when it is all working perfectly bar the one button. Is there still no way to just get the settings for this one feature? Cheers

If it is factory unlocked or unlocked BY YOUR CARRIER (officially) then no, it will not go away. If you have used a software unlock via jailbreak (eg. yellowsn0w or BootNeuter) then it will be lost if you upgrade your firmware or restore your phone. If you upgrade or restore, you also upgrade your baseband which will usually stop you from unlocking it again (cannot be downgraded). iPhone 2G is fairly safe but do not upgrade an iPhone 3G or 3GS without researching properly.

Hi Guys finally got to bottom – having trouble with connecting to Internet or mail away from Wifi. Safari Msg is "Cannot Open Page.." I have tried switching to Airplane Mode – re-booting, checked Cellular Data settings (have XT carrier bundle installed on 3.1.2) Phone and messaging working okay just cannot get data working (went to Aus last month, turned Data Roaming Off – now back on). Any thoughts?

Hi Dan thanks for the reply – in passing Telecom Help Desk reset MMS from internet.telecom.co.nz (per Carrier bundle) to wap.telecom… which I have set back. Also found the answer as I have JB and Mike had experienced similar porblems with SBSettings and the Edge option over in that forum, which I have updated on the fix (I somewhat stumbled on). I am having an issue with the content in the downloaded file when i get too the “shift update” stage my computer will not allow me to change the drop down menu in the window that appears and therefore i cannot recognize the telecom_nz file. does anyone know a solution to this problem? i am running windows 7

@ emilang:Yep had the same issue. resolved it by reinstalling the carrier bundle and switching MMS messaging on and off several times in the settings menu under messages MMS Messaging. Check all the cellular data settings APN etc with Telecom today and there all correct.

I have had a love hate relation ship with my I Phone since the day I stupidly subjected my I phone to the 3.1. whatever firmware update that disable tethering. This made my phone less of a business tool and annoyed me immensely. Yes I could have got a T stick or switch to another carrier but didn’t .
I held out and knew you guys or some one would eventually crack the tethering Issue.

All I can say is a big thankyou, you guys rock. The new carrier bundle works a treat and I can now work rurally again.,

Hey,
I installed the carrier bundle and voicemail + XT logo works fine, but MMS doesn’t work either.
I’ve made sure MMS Messaging is on, and Show Subject Field is off.
I click the little camera icon and take a photo, press send to send, and after a while, the loading bar completes and there’s an error sending (red ! icon).
You say to check up with Telecom or something? I’m not sure what to do/say!
