Telecom aware of issues
Got no service on your iPhone this morning? Telecom has tweeted confirmation this morning that they are aware of issues that are affecting areas south of Taupo and that engineers are working to restore service. Until then, enjoy a foggy and unwanted reminder of what life was like pre-iPhone… it’s not nice!
[Update 1:20pm] Many people are reporting that they have coverage again, including us.

Yes , none in Dunedin either

They said all should be well by 10:30. It is 36 past and nothing here in Dunedin.

Yea nothing in Wellington as expected, thought my iPhone was having a moment. While i understand faults happen, for them not to have a back up proves that they have cut corners rolling out XT in order to keep customers from going to 2degrees. On the upside lol my other cdma phone is working mint.

Man this is frustrating! Trying to keep the faith and not check my phone every 5 min! Wonder whether one will have to reboot once the issues are fixed.

Whenever I wake my phone from sleep it changes from No service to Searching. AFAIK that should mean it’s looking for coverage? I suppose Airplane toggle is a more definite force search.

To get all my texts coming through just made a call to any number eg: 0800 000 000. Then they all flooded in.

People should start seeing the network coming back up now. Mine came up without a reboot….. just to note Steve’s is still out

Switching into and out of airplane mode will do the same thing as reboot in terms of your connection to the network so I would suggest doing that periodically. I'm actually doing it the other way round for mine – am keeping it on airplane mode and turning airplane mode off periodically to see if it can find the network. Otherwise my poor iPhone is continually searching and battery is draining rather quick!
Toggling sleep/wake should be sufficient. That makes it search for coverage.

Mak I assume you meant to say toggling airplane mode. Putting your iPhone to sleep and waking it up again doesn't make it search for coverage. If it can't find service and you don't have airplane mode on it will continue to periodically search for service of its own accord, even if the screen is in sleep mode.
Up in Dunedin.
