Ask iPhonewzealand: How much will FaceTime cost to use over 3G?
FaceTime, FaceTime, FaceTime! Unless you have just moved to Earth from outer space you will know that this is Apple’s new video calling service. Compatible FaceTime devices thus far are the iPhone 4, the iPod touch 4th Gen and (as of last week) any Mac with a camera running Snow Leopard.
Aside from the odd launch hiccup and Mac security bug which has now been fixed, we at iPhonewzealand could not be more impressed with FaceTime. The only downside is talking to people with FaceTime uses data, but how much does it use? and what is a call going to cost you to make or receive? Carry on reading to find out.…
Read MoreAll trace of white iPhone 4 vanishes from Apple Store
Has the white iPhone 4 really been delayed… or has it gone forever? The online Apple Store has been tweaked this morning to remove all reference to the white model as the screenshot above shows. Previously, the white iPhone 4 was shown but a notice made it clear it was currently unavailable for purchase. Make of it what you will, but clearly Cupertino would rather you just ditch the great white hope altogether for now and go black.…
Read MoreMPs banned from using iPads and iPhones because they could “bring viruses to the network.”
No matter what you think of politicians, it would seem that at least a few of them are trying to work smarter by using iPhones and iPads to help them streamline their schedules and clear their busy in-boxes. But according to a NZPA story published on stuff.co.nz today, a spectacular misunderstanding of the technology has caused these MPs to be locked out of the parliamentary LAN.…
Read MoreWhite iPhone 4 delayed until 2011
If you’re waiting for the white iPhone 4, it might just be time to reconsider how long you’re prepared to wait. An Apple spokesperson is quoted with an apology for disappointed customers, so it sounds like they have their facts straight. Are you waiting? What do you plan to do now? Hit us up in the comments.…

Read MorePrivacy and security issues highlight why FaceTime now needs an approval system
After today’s Back to the Mac event the first thing that any self-respecting Mac owner did was go and download the beta of FaceTime. I did, and I have to say it is fantastic. So simple to set up and use that literally anyone could do it (including your computer illiterate inlaws), however whilst Steve and I were discussing how great it was we realised there are a couple of fatal flaws that *could* keep users away… privacy and security.…

Read MoreAccessory review: Kensington Dash Mount
My iPhone 4 is my car’s best friend. It’s my music source, my hands-free phone, and my GPS unit. But it’s none of these things without a suitable windshield or dashboard mount. After getting through two generic Chinese knock-off windshield mounts that I had gambled on (they were cheap) and lost, I realised it was time to spend some money on a ‘real’ car solution. I ultimately chose the Kensington Dash Mount from MacSense, but how does it stack up? …
