Bumper refunds begin
If you bought an iPhone 4 early and with it a Bumper at the same time, then you will have just received an email, as we just did above, advising customers they are automatically refunding them the cost of the Bumper they purchased.
They have also started the Free case program as promised, so for those of you that didn’t get a bumper/case at the same time as your iPhone 4 you can now get one for free and to organise it, well, ‘There’s an App for that’.

The app that Apple have released (iPhone 4 case program) allows users to automatically choose their free case and arrange to have it sent. At this stage it is for ‘first wave’ countries only, however it is our understanding that this will be made available to New Zealand on Friday/Saturday once the ‘second wave’ of iPhone 4 release has begun.

Guide to getting your Free Case:
Follow these steps to apply for a Bumper or case:
- Download the iPhone 4 Case Program app from the App Store.
- Launch the app on your iPhone 4 and sign in using your iTunes Store account.
- Select your Bumper or case.
Important note: For iPhone 4 purchases made before July 23, 2010, you must apply no later than August 22, 2010; otherwise, you must apply within 30 days of your iPhone 4 purchase. To qualify for this program, you must purchase your iPhone 4 by September 30, 2010.

Planning on getting an Apple bumper with a screen/back protector of some description. Any idea if the cases are going to be available at the time of purchase, or will we have to wait for it to be shipped at a later date?

I bought mine from Ebay http://preview.tinyurl.com/2cvq4pe from XtremeGuard. Seems like a good product, and for that price I’m really not too concerned if it isn’t. Ordered it late last week, should hopefully order around the time that the iPhone is released so I can apply it directly.
If it turns out that it is rubbish, any recommendations for other (cheapish) protectors from experience with the 3GS?

Just emailed friend in UK who sent my iPhone 4′s over. Based on the fact bumpers are not shipping for 3 to 5 weeks and they have to go UK then NZ………. I can’t be bothered.

@ Paul: I believe you will be able to order it from the app once the iPhone is on sale here. You have to log in with your Apple ID and if you used a NZ one to register the device with you will be able to get it sent directly here.
@ pknz: I already have the bumper, but I would go for the clear Incase Snap Case, that way you still get to see te georgous design.
@ Dan: in that “case” I will try that then. Should get a bumper really just in “case” I drop it. I rest my “case”

Doh, I purchased an iPhone 4 case a few weeks ago… Well, I guess having a second case won't hurt… Just hope I can get the phone on Friday/Saturday now…

That sounds like the best of both worlds to me. It's got such a lovely design that you want to actually be able to see and touch it, but by all accounts the glass back (and to a lesser extent the front) is still prone to scratches, albeit very minor ones. But apparently Apple don't sell screen protectors (or cases that contain them) on the Apple store anymore, which is a pain.

went into MagnumMac, today and after waiting 10mins got to ply with a Ipad(i want one)
i asked a staff member about the Iphone4, and he had no clue/idea of a date for it, i asked about the 30th, and he said he was unsure
he said the best thing to do, is wait and keep a eye on the net
