Along with the iPad Case that came the other day, we also received the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit. This was one accessory I was looking forward to receiving and it turns out I was right to do so. Hit the Read More to see a video of the connection kit in action.
I have decided I am not going to do a full review of this, however I have done a video showing it in use. One thing I will say is it is fantastic. I would go as far as to say this has opened up a completely different side of the iPad for me. Being able to import pictures and videos and instantly show them to others is fantastic.
In fact just the other day at work, I had to leave the office so I took a picture of a diagram using my iPhone and then imported it to the iPad so that I could view it on the larger screen while I was out. Simply It is brilliant. This is one accessory I urge every single iPad owner to purchase.

Imagine how awesome it would have been if Apple had actually bothered to include a memory card slot or USB slot on the ipad in the first place.

Yeah I’m sure the dock connector on the ipad isn’t going to cost much to repair, and I’m sure it will never break despite being the ONLY port to use.(I’ve also owned computers for over 20 years and have yet to see any broken port, USB or otherwise).
Seriously, if you were going to create a device that is perfect for multi media use surely the first thing you would include would be a memory card slot. Flash memory is so cheap these days it’s uses are huge. Why should we have to carry around another adaptor just to use a memory card????
I’m not an apple basher by any means having owned 3 iphoes and numerous ipods but I think they have dropped the ball on this one and if it wasn’t for the folk blinded by the design and the apple logo they might have struggle against the upcoming alternatives from HP & Acer etc.
As for the comment about it saving the battery what you are really saying is that you can only do one thing at a time but we won’t go there will we….

You mean more ports on the device to break rendering it useless? The amount of people I know with broken USB ports on their computers I'm actually glad you can buy a cheap accessory if it breaks vs. Costly repairs on the device.
Besides this each extra port draws more power and thus battery life by having all accessories run through one port the integrity of the battery life is not sacrificed

@ marmel:
To be honest I get the impression Apple is trying to leave physically connected media behind (USB, DVDs etc.), they are trying to pioneer a world where everything is wireless and internet based.
Want an HD movie? Stream it from itunes
Want to print a document? Print is via bluetooth
External hard drive for added storage? WiFi Time capsule
They are taking a very cloud based, invisible data flying, internet enhanced distribution method. This coupled with the power drain of USB ports (your computer cant charge an iPad for lack of gogo juice) and the need for numerous USB drivers makes it a nightmare before you even ship the first one.

I’m buying one of these camera connection kits from Noel Leeming today for $49.95, I got a $50 voucher for my birthday earlier in the week so this will fit the bill well!
Looking forward to demonstrating instant photos on my iPad at a family gathering this afternoon. Thanks for this review Dan.
