Apple Store App
And the good stuff just keeps on coming! Apple yesterday released an official iPhone app for shopping on the Apple online store. The slight downside for us here in New Zealand is that this is U.S. only right now. Still… fancy a quick look at the app to see what may be in store for New Zealand in the not so distant future? Free in the U.S. iTunes store you can now find the official Apple store shopping app. The app is exactly what we have come to expect from official Apple apps: clean, simple and easy to use. Whilst as I say this is U.S. only and I did not have a chance to actually use the app per se and purchase something I did have a look around and it looks good.
The opening screen of the app displays the featured section and shows Apple’s currently most promoted and new items (Right now we all know what that is) along with other current featured lines.

Scrolling down on the featured opening page you also get some featured accessories and software.

Scroll across to the products tab and the layout is very “Apple Online Store” familiar in its look and layout. Products are grouped in categories.
Products By Category
The app has a nearest store locator, it uses your current location or pre entered zip code to find your nearest store. Once the store is located you can see the location of the store and even the opening hours. You can even have a look at the upcoming Apple events at this store and reserve online stock for pick up at this store.
I do not watch the show, It's the only U.S. Zip code I know okay!!

I always found the official Apple online store quite a heavy page to load on mobile Safari, this eliminates that and is a great way of quickly grabbing something from the Apple store on the move. We can only hope this app will be rolled out across the world as soon as possible and we will have a localised version for New Zealand. Let’s hope that when we update this post or review the app in-depth it will be with screen shots of the NZ store. If not, it would be great to see this gap filled by the likes of Magnum Mac.
