Free iPhone 4 adapter
Not so long ago I posted about how you need to add a piece of velcro to your TomTom car kit if you wanted it to work with your iPhone 4. Well it seems TomTom have decided to respond themselves and instead of making you fork out for a new iPhone 4 car kit they are giving away a free adapter to make your current kit work with your new iPhone 4 without the need for the Velcro.

iPhone 4 adapter
The idea behind the velcro was that it enabled the ‘switch’ to touch the back of the iPhone 4. The adapter has the same idea but it looks like it is a cover for the switch which will increase it’s size so that it then touches the iPhone 4′s back.
This adapter is going to be included with the current kit’s packaging from September 1st 2010. However, if you bought a car kit prior to September 1st 2010, you can claim your free adapter from the TomTom site as of 10 September 2010.

Everything Apple just seems to be amazing. I no longer care about paying the extra $$$ for an apple product. Because I know I will get an incredible product, incredible service, and a smile on my face.

Not a bad option, but it looks like it has the same problem as the velcro, which was a great idea by the way. The adhesive appears to be more permanent than temporary.
I’ve handed my trusty iPhone 3G to my wife since upgrading to the iPhone 4. We often share a car, so need to easily be able to support both phones in the TomTom cradle.
My solution was to cut a 2mm thick strip off the end of a Staedtler Mars Plastic eraser, cut it down to size and then use a residue free, only slightly sticky adhesive. I’ve not settled on anything yet, but did find that a thin layer of blue-tac works, allowing me to easily attach the ‘bumper’ for the iPhone 4 and remove it as necessary to support the iPhone 3G.
Video coming this weekend.

I don’t own one of these personally but TomTom did the right thing here as it’s a cheap and easy fix for them but it gives me
confidence in their products going forward

My current issue is with docks on things like stereo’s and speaker systems. The iphone 4 does go in and work, but it is not a nice fit like my 3gs was. Does anyone know where we can buy actual iPhone 4 speakers from?
