iOS 4.1 available now
Finally after much waiting iOS 4.1 is available for download now… why are you still reading this, you should have plugged your iPhone in and hit the Check for Updates button by now! (unless of course you are jailbroken, in which case stay well clear of it). Keep reading for some details of the latest version of iOS.
iOS 4.1 brings a few bug fixes and a number of new features.

New
New features include Game Center (as I am sure you are all aware), Ping for your iPhone, HD video uploading (Upload HD video to YouTube and MobileMe from your iPhone 4), and of course HDR for the camera (iPhone 4 only).
Once installed why not log in to Game Center, register and then Tweet your ID with #gamecenterID tag so others can add you as a friend.

and improved
One big fix is the proximity sensor issue and I can confirm it is now fixed in iOS 4. Prior to the update I pretty much put someone on hold on every call. Since the update it has worked flawlessly. Also included are fixes for Bluetooth connectivity issues and iPhone 3G performance issues.
Unfortunately it doesn’t change the method for signing up to FaceTime. We had heard that it would be changed so that registration would be done via email address instead of an activation text, however it seems as though this would only be for the new iPod touch and the iPhone 4 still uses the original method. As such ported numbers may still have issues.

Go on, you know you wnat to
So what are you waiting for, hit your iTunes “Check for Updates” button and install it now… already got it? Tell us what you think in the comments below.

HDR works great… will leave it on for ALL photos.

Hey guys. Haven’t updated for a while. I am still on iOS 3.1.3. I have a 3GS. Will this update work fine? Will I lose tethering and my answer phone button?

Big Up’s to Apple as 4.1 has done what they promised and resuscitated my old 3G which up till then had been on its last legs! Hey and not forgetting you guys at iphonewzealand for the Carrier App to get me back up and running on XT.

hI, I just got my iphone today and i am trying to update to 4.1, but i get an error message that reads: the iphone could not be updated the disk you are trying to use is full.
My sim card is not working yet, but i dont think that would have anything to do with it.

@ pauline:
“the iphone could not be updated the disk you are trying to use is full”
There is not enough free space on your iPhone to apply the update, you need to remove some movies/music/photos from the iPhone to free up some disk space

the iphone is brand new, only got it yesterday. it has at least 28GB free space, i’ve only put a few apps on it , no music yet.

@ pauline:
Do you have space on your hard drive on your computer for the update to be downloaded?

So, I’ve gone through and sent Game Center requests to a few of you fine iphonewzealand folk.
If you’d like to add me, my ID is Fantm.
It looks like the only Game Center compatible game I have so far is World Series of Poker.

@ pauline: I get that message sometimes if I try to put too much on the iPhone, if I forget to select individual movies and tv shows and try to sync more than 32gb.

Hi guys,
new to post here, but love the iphonenz site.
I took my 3G to 4.0 and suffered the big slow down as well as the losing of the voicemail button. I am on the XT network
Had a work college take it back to 3.x.x and all has been great.
I am interested to go to 4.2, but am very reserved….
From what I have read here, speed is has been fixed?
and has the voicemail button been sorted?
just a little nervous after last experiance!
