What do you do if you’re a 3News anchor and you’re having to broadcast live from quake-stricken Kaiapoi but you’ve left your auto-cue at home? Why, you use your iPhone of course! Barry was seen reading from what appears to be an iPhone 4 throughout this evenings news broadcast… well, that or she was frantically trying to reserve her nickname of choice on Game Center! Just kidding, Hillary… top job with the quake coverage by the way.

Don’t know if any one noticed but Eric Young from Prime news was using an iPad as his auto cue when he was in Christchurch.

Don’t mean to be a geek (wait, look where I’m posting…) but if you could see the ipad in shot then it wasn’t being used as autocue. However there are some very good prompting apps around, we’ve used the Pro-Prompter app already on a couple of inhouse recordings and even in an emergency with a client (requires a hood unit to clip on the camera lens of course and clip to hold the iphone but works surprisingly well, especially if you use another iProduct as a remote for it.) I’ll be looking at the iPad hoodunit in the States later this month but it won’t be long till you see field reporters with these.
