iOS SDK 4.1 beta available now

iOS 4.1 beta avaialble now!

Go get it devs. The iOS 4.1 beta is now available from the iPhone Dev Centre. Guess we’ll have to wait and see what changes.

UPDATE: A few users have emailed us with this, and looking through it would appear there is still no iPad support, looks like that will be in a further release maybe another couple of releases away. All they’ve done is moved GameKit from the preview version to a more final version, and a couple of other minor tweaks.

See anything else new? Let us know in the comments below.

Installed and the signal strength indicator has indeed dropped down as per Apple saying they would recalculate the display. I always had full signal (displayed) and now have 1 sometimes 2 bars missing. Yet to test if this actually affects calls or anything as I didn’t have an issue and only using 3GS running iOS4.1

Seems a little smoother and less laggy. Just on signal strength indicator I really hope it is just a display change as mine is now showing 1 or 2 bars at most…its all about actual usage but I liked the old display that looked like I had full signal.

Early reports from the States are still indicating that the 4.1 beta has not fixed the signal issues like Apple said they would… =S

    - Flash/Camera buttons reposition themselves in landscape (see above).
    - Favorites in the Phone app can now be added as Voice or Facetime.
    - Check Spelling can be turned Off in Setting

What GameKit? Was that something only the Devs had access to?

@ Yaman_NZ: The developer version of iOS4 and I believe this beta has GameCenter pre-installed, but it isn’t ready for public use yet and so was left out of the public release of iOS4.

It’ll either come as a downloadable free app or in a future update, most likely 4.1 when it is released.
