The next iPhone?
Believe it or not, what appears to be the next iPhone (expected to be launched June / July) has been obtained by tech blog Gizmodo, who are convinced that this is the real deal. According to their article, the phone was found in a bar disguised as an iPhone 3GS in a specially-crafted case and is recognised as an iPhone when connected to iTunes and XCode, sports a front-facing camera (yay!), a bigger camera lens and flash, and a glass (or ceramic) back.
It is also completely flat with no curved back and seems to echo the design of the iMac / MacBook Pro. At this point, we’re pretty convinced but hit ‘read more’ for the link and be sure to tell us what you reckon in the comments.
[EDIT: If you weren't convinced this was the real deal, perhaps this letter from Apple which Gizmodo received today asking for the return of their lost iPhone will do the trick!]

According to reports, Gizmodo payed $10k for the prototype…

@ dylangiacon: That post has had over 2.5 million page views, a price worth paying for that?

@ Dan:
Money VERY well spent. I wonder if the guy selling it offered it to all the big blogs, or did he just take the first offer and run.

Lol @ ALL the top blogs. But seriously I’m convinced this is it and boy steve was right when he said the 4th Gen iPhone would be A+ This device coupled with the new OS is going to be something else indeed.

Actually he DID offer it to us but all we could afford to pay for it was a $20 iTunes card. Which was used. So…
Looks kosher to me. I’m loving what I’m seeing. Roll on July….

And it was only the NZ iTunes store voucher so no way he was gonna accept. @ Steve:

I like the look a lot. Much more rugged which I like, a lot of the features sound great (front facing camera!) and as mentioned above combined with OS4.0 will make an awesome combo.
I only got my 3GS Nov09 but i may even consider this upgrade… Provided it’s legit which it seems to be’

What a blow. Micro-SIM only. No more XT?

To those who are regretting buyig a 3GS recently: don’t. iPhones keep their resell value pretty high so you will probably be able to sell your phones on trademe for a just a couple of hundred dollars less than the RRP, putting you in a position where upgrading to the new one will cost you next to nothing. Enjoy your 3GSs and don’t regret them for a second!!
Good point – no regrets here, I love this thing!

@ Steve:
Thanks for the reassurance Steve. I love my new toy but this new bad boy looks like the absolute business.
I’m already thinking forgiveness will be easier gained than permission when it comes to getting it past wifey…

Gutted. Only just got my 3GS and now this beast is unveiled. My wife will never let me hear the end of it.
