iPhone 4 delayed in NZ?
While we have no sources to cite, it appears the mainstream media have got a whiff of the frustration felt by consumers and geeks alike, waiting for any news on the iPhone 4 launch tomorrow.
TVNZ has issued a short story which also aired on the late 10.30pm news, simply stating that the iPhone 4 *could* be delayed, potentially due to the Antennagate issues. They don’t cite any sources so this is mare speculation, pretty much more of the same from what we’ve seen throughout today.
Perhaps more interesting is the story from the NZ Herald who are citing tweets of all things as ‘credible’ references examples of the frustration among potential customers. They seem to think that the iPhone agreement between Vodafone and Apple has ended, or perhaps a shipment of the much sort after device has been delayed, thus the lack of stock. While all possible outcomes, none of them can be confirmed (nor denied, really).
Vodafone have been silent all day, on their usually very active twitter account. Distraught Twitter followers have been harassing poor Paul Brislen all day for information, to no avail. This afternoon we along with the rest of the keen-eyed community noticed Vodafone making subtle changes to it’s iPhone website. There is no longer any mention, anywhere of the iPhone 4 – which seems to support the Herald’s theory of Vodafone’s agreement being canned. On the other hand, they could have just been preparing for the changes that will happen for tomorrow.
To add to the confusion, Customer Service Representatives from Apple’s 0800 number have been telling users a range of stories – from “Vodafone NZ will NOT be selling the iPhone 4″ to “We don’t know”. Such a help!
At the end of the day there are so many conflicting reports that we can’t make heads nor tails of them. We will need to wait until official word from Apple or Vodafone.

It seems that people latched onto me saying I saw white flat-packaged shelving being bought into JBhifi, along with cones. I truly believe they will have it tomorrow, as when I asked the sales rep, he said he couldnt tell me, for fear of losing his job. If they werent getting it, I dont think he would care so much about saying yes or no…
