iPad comes to NZ in July
The Apple NZ website has been updated with two important little words: ‘Coming July’. Yes, folks, the iPad lands in little old New Zealand in July. While it’s more than a month behind the confirmed Australian launch date of May 28th, this is the first time that Apple have provided any kind of date for the release here so it’s better than nothing. Pricing is still yet to be confirmed so hit the ‘read more’ and share your pricing predictions in the comments.
I commented on another Ipad post but this one seems more appropriate place for it. Apple have announced the pricing of the Australian Ipads due for presale on Monday (shipping 28th May) and adjusting back to NZ dollars, there are quite some good savings to be made over using US importers like toshcomputers or using Ebay for example. Looking at toshcomputers current prices, the Australian official store is $300 cheaper on all models. I mention this for two reasons, the NZ Apple store is generally quite close to a simple exchange rate conversion for Aus to NZ prices so sets us up for a good rate when we get the Ipads in July and also just to let the punters know to hold off using US imports as Aussie works out better for those thinking of getting an Ipad

Which is $50 dollars less that what I paid for my iPad from Toshcomputers when I used their GST off scheme.. but its been worth the extra $50! I love my new iPad and has been great to show off at work and to customers over the last couple of weeks! Immigrating to Aussie to work for Apple so will be picking one up and sending it back to Mum in NZ… shame our plans are so much for 3G

…so the prices vary massively – if you know anyone in the states then get one shipped out i guess!

If you know anyone that can buy it *tax free* in the US the sure, but when you add sales tax on the difference isn't so great, and possible not worth the courier fees and possible import tax you'd get stung with if you followed the rules and declared it.

Correct. With sales tax in Nevada, the iPad 64GB WiFi + 3G worked out around NZ$1190.
