The Official All Blacks App
I’m not sure if our readers will know this, but there is this game that’s played in New Zealand called “Rugby” and they have a national team called “The All Blacks” (apparently they’re pretty big here). Well if you’ve heard of the game and the team then this app might just interest you. Hit the read more for our look at the Official All Blacks app.
This app was pointed out to us a while ago by it’s developers, Paper Kite Ltd, but we have only just got around to looking at it and considering the All Blacks are a Kiwi institution we just had to take a look, after all you can’t get more Kiwi than this app. We all know how good the All Blacks can be, the question is how good is this app?
The answer, pretty good. It’s clean, simple to use and while I’ve been using the app I haven’t come across any bugs or crashes.

Ka Mate
The app has pretty much all the information any All Blacks fan could need. From the latest news to the current squad and for those of you that can’t get enough of it, a video of the Haka (Ka Mate version).

The latest news
To me, the main features of this app are checking out the latest news and the results and fixtures page. You pretty much know the squad and you don’t really need to watch the Haka over and over agin.
The news is well laid out and updated regularly (24 hours a day), but I would like to see some archived news, currently it only seems to show a few days worth and although that’s mostly what you would need it would be good to have an option to see more.

Dan who?
The “All Blacks” tab shows you both the whole All Blacks squad and the current team. Tapping on a player name takes you to their profile where you can brush up on your player knowledge.
Currently the app contains information for the 2010 Steinlager Series, Investec Tri-Nations, Bledisloe Series and End of Year Tour and the developers have committed to updating the app with new features and content on a regular basis.
This is a great, free app and definitely an essential for any fan of the All Blacks.

Yeah its not bad. What would make it better is a match ticker of the live games.

As the number of ipad owners is steadily growing how about stating in your reviews if an app is iphone specific. From the pics above I assume it has been designed for the iphone?

@ marmel:
Hi Marmel. At the bottom of the post you’ll see the text “This entry was posted in All, Reviews, iPhone, iPod touch”. If it was coded for iPad as well it would say “This entry was posted in All, Reviews, iPhone, iPod touch, iPad”.
