Pre-register now!
Pre-registrations are GO! (kinda). Vodafone are taking pre-registrations of interest for iPhone 4. Hit the read more for the registration link.
Vodafone today announced on their official twitter page that they are taking registrations of interest for the new iPhone 4.
This comes hot on the heels of their announcement (and here) of Micro-sims this morning. This will hopefully mean that we will be seeing the iPhone 4 here very soon. But fingers crossed.

Hmmm wonder how long…

@ Mak: Not necessarily…….

@ Dan:
I agree with Dan, not necessarily.
Magnum are an authorised Apple reseller
Voda are the carrier (the only NZ legit one), but they dont control distribution of hardware.

@ Richard: and before everyone chimes in, yes Voda did with the 3G/3GS, but that may not be the case with iPhone 4

I guess it depends how Apple/Voda want to treat MagnumMac this time around. Apple Retail store or reseller of VFNZ like DSE/Harvey etc.

hey guys, I’ll b getting my first iPhone once it comes out, but wats the difference between purchasing it from vodafone or magnum??
(danz995 has made 14 comments)
@ danz995: I guess it depends on who your carrier is going to be. If you are going with Vodafone then it’s probably not an issue and either is just as good as the other. If you are going with Telecom, 2 Degrees or someone else then I would purchase through MagnumMac or Apple direct.

But it could be like last year (yes I know.. brining it up) where Magnum couldn’t sell directly. Time shall tell.

@paul You make valid points – it does seem a little pointless sometimes, but for some people they don’t keep an eye out on the Apple or Vodafone sites as part of a normal routine and want to be notified when it is ready to order. It is not a guarantee to get one ordered on day 1!
Cheers,
Allan

I think you hit the nail on the head right there…Vodafone last year (and year before) offered the same pre-registration and both times they failed to email me before it was already public knowledge and on sale. Seems this year they have gone one step TOO far and now make pre-announcements about announcements they will soon announce.

Great reading an yes I’m lookn forward to receiving my new iPhone 4 soon when they arrive, an I’m not a Fan of Vodafone as I was with them for years !!

Magnum Mac will be forced to do whatever VFNZ want for launch so they're essentially the same.

I have to chime in here, am I the only one thinks "registering your interest" is kinda pointless?? It's great that the iPhone 4 looks like it will be on time end of July and all that but pre registering your interest means nothing, you may get an email/text when pre orders are available or the iPhone release date is announced but I don't think you need an email or text to tell you this as I'm fairly sure when pre orders or release dates are announced you will find it hard not to hear about it. Am I missing something? Are people pre registering just to get notified 10 minutes before word is out and get a head start on their pre order/purchase ? Chances are news will break before you get notified. I noticed on the Voda site it said we will keep you updated by email and text of iPhone 4 and other Apple news, just seems like a mailing list more than anything. Again, am I missing something? does this list mean you will get ANY kind of preferential treatment with regards to pre orders? If it does I stand corrected.
Just my 2 cents

@Paul also, it gives companies an idea of how many devices should be ordered in to keep demand satisfied as much as possible from day 1
(Allan has made 42 comments)
@ Allan: I agree that for any other item it would be great for a company to get an idea of demand but those rules don't apply to the iPhone, no amount of interested registers will change whatever amount Apple have allocated to NZ and after that people won't bother pre registering their interest they will just wait until its back in stock before ordering or order and get it when they get it. Just seems a bit odd, maybe I am bitter as I have pre registered for things before and got the notification late!!
