This comes hot on the heels of their announcement (and here) of Micro-sims this morning. This will hopefully mean that we will be seeing the iPhone 4 here very soon. But fingers crossed.

If last year is anything to go by Apple let Vodafone have a bit of a head start then put it on the Apple store at a cheaper price. “A few days” is an understatement it was a few weeks.

I think your memory is playing tricks on you there, Mak — the iPhone 3GS appeared on the Apple Store NZ website to purchase on midnight preceding the launch day. I remember this well as Dan and I got up at 5 in the morning to go camp outside MagnumMac Chch only to find it was already available for sale but for $30 less on the Apple site. I had a bit of a struggle trying to decide what to do but in the end opted to spend $30 more just to get it on release day. When I got there and found they would only sell to Vodafone customers I almost hopped on one of their MacBooks to order it via Apple there and then, but managed to get around it in the end.

i wonder if the apple store will yet us preorder, and get the phone on the day it goes on sale in store?
like in the US, they started taking preorders a week before it went on sale, and were shipping them two days before it went on sale.
whats a real pain, is that no1, apple, voda are giving a hint at the price..
i know it will be up a in the early $1000, but i would like to know how much i have to save
    lol

FYi, this will be my first Iphone

Hmmm last year Apple started taking orders on the same day that Voda started selling them in-store, and then those orders took about a week to be fulfilled. You will see that this thread on Geekzone was full of people absolutely spewing about how long it was taking Apple to get their purchases to them. Let’s hope they do better this year.

If they run the release like they did in the States and UK then we must be mere days away from announcement as they were told on the 7th June that preorders would start 15th June for delivery 24th June. It’s now 9th July so using those above dates as guides it would push the delivery date to around 26th…Spainish telco suggesting 28th so should know in the next few days when preordering can start. Fingers crossed.

Ha Ha nice! And well thought out. Just looking back though my calendar the 7th of June when the states were told pre orders would start was a Monday……so maybe this Monday for some solid concrete info! fingers crossed!

Just received this in my email inbox:

Thanks for registering your interest for the iPhone 4.

We’ll keep in touch by email with launch information as it’s available. Keep an eye on your inbox – within the next week we’ll be sending you a guide on the Micro SIM with iPhone 4 and what this means for you.

Withen the next week..hmm…hope it’s a worth while update and not another Vodafone preannouncement of a pending announcement.
