Clearly not enough stock
Those of you hoping to get your hands on an iphone 4 today are now out of luck. Vodafone just tweeted “^PB All iPhone4 stock sold out. More stock coming soon.”
Clearly the low supply levels are what led to this mornings debacle, seeing Vodafone only want to sell to its on-account customers. Clearly Apple didn’t supply Vodafone with enough stock and Vodafone didn’t supply their customers with enough details. Fail on both fronts really.
So sorry for all those that missed out, it looks like there will be another wait. How long that wait will be is anyone’s guess. Maybe Vodafone could let us know.
Did you manage to snag one today? Getting one from Apple “this evening”? Let us know in the comments below.

the store should be going down anytime now…..i hope

7pm.
And the store is still up…
Maybe they meant "7pm … (Australia time)"

Arrived about 1:30pm at Manukau VF. Out in about 45 mins with 16Gb iPhone 4. Lucky I guess and was hoping everyone would go to Sylvia Park

So, each Australian carrier got around 13000* 3 x 13000 = 39 000
Australia has several apple stores so very conservatively at least 1000 more.
Vodafone Queen St Auckland had 56.
Christchurch's only retail Vodafone store had 48.
All of New Zealand had what, somewhere between 500 – 1000?
Rough maths ahead but indulge me.
Population – 22 million v 4 million = 11:2
Supply – 40 000 v 1000 = 40:1
We must be considered such an irrelevant market that we got a token crate of phones thrown at us out of pity. And then we couldn't even handle those properly. Sigh.

Typing this on my shiny new iPhone4. Lucky coincidence I happened to be at Lynn Mall in Auckland during the 90 minute period they were on sale. I have to say that the staff were very professional and I thought they dealt with the situation very well. Many thanks to Daniel at Vodafone Lynn Mall.

Got one today from Voda on Clomobo Street, waited in line about an hour but well worth it! My first iPhone and it is easily the coolest piece of tech I have ever used.
