Here we go again!
As if once wasn’t enough, it appears Telecom’s new XT mobile network is experiencing more downtime. Outages have been reported in Wellington, Christchurch, Oamaru and Dunedin.
Telecom, when contacted by iPhonewzealand user damnelectric, stated that the outage was “only affecting some customers” and could not give a timeframe for when a fix could be implemented.
We will edit this post with any updates.
This is not the first time XT has had a major outage. Just last month, there was a major outage affecting all XT users south of Taupo.
Tip: to conserve battery on your iPhone, put it into Airplane mode. This will stop it constantly searching for service.
Update (11:40am): Telecom has announced on their Twitter account that the outage is affecting XT customers south of Rotorua. Technicians are investigating. It is a high priority.
Update (11:51am): Outage details have been updated, with it affecting users south of Taupo (rather than Rotorua).
Update (12:43pm): Telecom have tweeted that the outage should be fixed by 1pm.
Update (2:13pm): The issue is reportedly resolved with some cell sites still being worked on, well over an hour after the original restore time.

I rang telecom earlier and the lady I talked to said that they are experiencing issues with some customers on the XT network but it is not a nationwide outage and that they are trying to fix it as soon as possible but could not give a time-frame.
Tane
And Wellington!
Thanks for the info!
Yup – I have ‘no service’ here in Christchurch CBD. Same for Dan.
down in wairarapa too
Christchurch is back up. According to me.
Nothing here in Dunedin yet.
Update: Christchurch is on and off at the moment.
Nice of 2degrees to take the opportunity to let us know that their network is just fine: http://www.facebook.com/2degreesmobile/posts/183833489945
Hopefully no one in the Antartic has died yet http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=39&topicid=53834&page_no=6#282258
So they think it was fixed at 1pm, not the case for me still unable to make calls or texts even after a phone reset. Im Located in Wellington.
Anyone else still have problems ?
Yep. So much for 1pm.
Yep, soon it will be so much for a fix today haha. They definitely cut corners somewhere on the network. Haven’t herd of 2Degrees going down might get me a back up sim card with them cause i hate Vodafone’s service.
Got service but can’t make calls.
And it’s gone again.
Same here, Mak. Phone is fluctuating between no bars and full signal, but calls fail and internet does not connect. Tried going in and out of Airplane mode but definitely still a no-go.
Everything seems to be OK now. Full signal, 3G, data, texting, calling.
*touches wood*
Annndddd, gone.
LOL i made one call to *333 and then bang it crashed now back to searching. I’ve rebooted the phone like 4-5 times today.
Working for me now after left phone off for 5 mins, started back up everything seems to be fine but who knows how long for
Note: If your phone is back up and running and you suspect you a missing some incoming texts ring *333 wait for it to connect and then hang up…. your messages should flood through like mine.

Issue is now resolved.
Having troubles in Dunedin again :@
Having issues in Dunedin, again!!! Wonder what Vodafone thinks of all this hoopla! They could easily get a whole swathe of new customers with a big, juicy carrot!
