It was only successful for the people who managed to get one, it was a sham for the rest of us who waited and got nothing and not even an indication. It was a sham at DSE Taupo, I called and advised I was down from Auckland and will like to know if they have any stock. The guy said they cannot confirm no deny but did say that they will be open past 5pm, so to me it implied they had some, I said ill come down before 5. So drove to the store at 4.45pm didn’t even go with friends to the hot pools as I didn’t want to miss out.
2 DSE staff waiting infront of the stock room like they had stock.. I went in, only 1 other was in store, along came 5pm, I said Black 64GB Wifi + 3G please they responded they had no stock at all.
Wtf, What a complete waste of time, if they just had told me don’t bother to come in! That is all they needed to say, why rope people to waste their time coming to the store when they had no stock at all.

I completely agree. Apple makes a big thing about the iPad 2 being rolled out in 25 more countries yet the supplies are pathetic. Well they are in NZ. I went to a store and there were about 20-30 people in line and one of the store guys told me there were more people than iPads. Never enough stock. And when people won’t confirm anything it’s even more frustrating.

I pre-order my ipad 2 on launch date and it’ll be arriving on the 21st Apri 2011. I’m going to australia on the 17th April 2011, Does anyone in Christchurch who hasn’t pre order wants to buy this? I’ll be very happy to sell it to them as brand new $1149* and can pick up from Christchurch as soon as it arrive. And i’ll have to buy one in Australia if there’s stock available.
