Facebook for iPad available now
Yes that’s right folks, Facebook have finally released their app for the iPad and it’s available at the link below. They have also issued an update to the iPhone app and from our initial look at it, it’s a pretty nice update with a whole new interface. Hit the download link below (it’s universal) and get your ‘Like’ on.

Too late, Zuck. I’ve quit Facebook. Or should I just dismissively say “Facebook’s not social?”

Is it just me, or does the iPhone version not get past the splash screen? All I see is the loading screen with the spinning loading thing and it never gets past that point.

I have upgraded just now and iPhone app feels snappy. It took a while to load the app the first time (splash screen stayed on for about 30 seconds) but after that, no issues to report…. yet!

Just downloaded the new version and did some testing on my iPhones.
3GS running 4.3.3 – crashes on the splash screen. Looks like I’ll have to revert to the old version.
3GS running 4.2.1 – opens and runs fine, no worries.
2G running 3.0 – works fine.

Looks like there’s lots of issues posted online (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1245420)
I personally didn’t encounter any problems but others have HIGHLY recommended uninstalling the previous version of the app before clean installing the latest 4.0 version.
I would suggest doing it this way (to be safe) cause others needed to completely restore their iPhones/iPads when they did a direct upgrade.
1.Unistall FB from your iOS
2. Clean install the new version from the app store

I had the stuck-on-splash screen. Deleted and reinstalled the app and now it works fine.

@ kitten:
It’s impossible for an app to brick an entire device. Worst case scenario it could lock it up and you will need to do a hard reset.

It really irks me when people make statements like this. Obviously the new FB app is NOT going to brick every single iPhone in the world. Telling people what model iPhone and what version of iOS you’re running might also help people make a more informed choice.
As mentioned by a few other people, do a hard reset. Then delete the FB app and re-download it from scratch from the App Store. I’m sure you’ll get it working fine.

There has been an update to the Facebook app today that resolves the freezing/crashing-on-launch issue.
