iOS 5 beta 7 OTA Delta update
Go get it devs! (and probably a lot of non-devs)…. Apple has just released iOS 5 beta 7, iTunes 10.5 beta 7, Apple TV Software beta 6 and Xcode 4.2 Developer Preview 7.
You can download iOS 5 beta 7 for all the usual suspects (iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad, iPad 2 or iPod touch 4th and 3rd gen) as an OTA delta update (70.9MB) or via the developer centre.
If you find anything new let us know in the comments below.

Ahhhh 7 betas, why not just push out a GM already.
iOS 5 is taking forever

I havn’t found any new features. Only that in messages they don’t show your contacts only the numbers. Restoring now to see if that fixes it rather than just the OTA update from Beta 6 I did

@ rugbyfan69:
To me that looks like your address book contacts are not there rather than messages app no being able to read them. Could be wrong though as I’m sure you would have checked that first. I’m on beta 7 and do not have the issue.
As far as the beta goes, nothing new. Bug fixes etc. OS feels very stable now. Surely the GM next!

@ Paul:
Yeah after restoring it works fine. I did check my contacts before and they were all still there.

I combed the OS and couldnt find anything new. iTunes Match is active, but since my device registered recently i don’t think i should be able to see it (assuming its active for iOS anyway)

iTunes match seems to be USA only. For now.
But the service looks great

iTunes Match in iTunes now says that you can’t sign up as they have completed the seeding to its initial set of developers. No great hassle as it was only open to US account holders and then you needed a US credit card to complete the process (rather than the voucher work around). Hopefully when it goes live that my NZ iTunes account will be able to be used to sign up (load C/C Card) but all my music will be synced. Just another hurdle to get over with multiple iTunes accounts and just how the iCloud will work with those. Up until now my US account was the “master” as it worked with everything but now the credit card issue has thrown spanner in the works ;(

Bugs/Annoyances – I too have that silly contacts issue (contacts are there but they don’t get pulled through to messages or phone history) and the ability to change 3G APN settings has gone.

In this beta, the Cellular Data Network menu has vanished from Settings > General > Network for me. Can’t edit carrier settings anymore?

I have the Contacts problem mentioned above and am on Telecom so Im worried about wiping my phone as I can no longer enter the APN to get cellular data (also mentioned above).
I also have a mail problem syncing with Xtra – since Beta 3 and reported to Apple, a photos problem that changes each beta but still not right and a calendar problem with syncing with MS Outlook – also reported to Apple. Each beta they ask me if it is fixed but I suspect they are just trying to tidy up their bugs database rather than someone actually attempted to fix it.
So it would be interesting to wipe the phone and start a fresh to see which problems went away but I can’t afford to lose the Telecom APN.

Also lost ability to edit APN settings. As pointed out above not sure how you would get a Telecom iPhone up and running on this beta after a wipe. Let’s hope this isn’t anything to do with official carriers and this feature doesn’t make it into the final release.

I am stupidly in the midst of a restore trying to fix the contacts issue and now wish I hadn’t cas I didn’t think about the APNs getting reset. Doh. Will let you know if they come back

@ camtab:
Having a look around twitter. Quite a few have lost all 3G connectivity due to not being able to enter APN.
Let us know how you go!

I can still change my APN Settings?

Vodafone users can still edit the APN….. non-official carriers are unable to, well, not easily at least. I have found a way and will post a video soon… in the meantime follow these steps:
1. Get a Vodafone SIM card and put it into the iPhone
2. Go into the APN settings and stay there.
3. Whilst there, insert you’re original SIM.
4. Update your APN and MMS settings to your chosen carrier’s settings (you can use our app to find the info)
5. Done.
It does seem to remember the Telecom settings but it is not remembering the 2degrees settings.

The APN settings bug is a bit of a worry,
Have you reported it to Apple?
I would be worried If it carrys over to public versions..

This is big news… if it makes its way into the live release it’s potentially going to kill the vast majority of iPhones in NZ.

@ kiwirick22:
It’s been reported on the developer center. Agreed though a little worrying.

What proportion of iPhone users would be on XT since it is not official carrier
What would be process/bid for Telecom to become an approved carrier?
