About time to! It only launched in the US a mere 18 days ago but it feels like NZ has been waiting months.
The online pre orders will no doubt have a 1-2 week ship time, so the question is……where will it be on launch day……..and how will Vodafone screw this one up.

LOL @Paul for the voda comment:-) Bad reputation will take a long time to recover from – another thing I will be interested in is to see what functionality SIRI will bring here in NZ – especially since it is still not listed on the NZ iPhone 4s page as a feature.

@ jeffwk:
I have an Aussie imported 4S. I’m from the UK so obviously do not have a real kiwi accent and Siri works great. My wife has a slight Kiwi accent and Siri again works fine. Not sure how it will cope with your “fush and chups” kiwi’s though.
The “Find me Italian restaurants near me” type requests do not work, but they do not work anywhere in the world aside from the US. Siri will say “i can only search for businesses in the U.S.”

@jeffwk and @paul i was using Siri with a kiwi accent and it works fine no probs at all . and remembering siri is only beta anyway and is not listed as an NZ product i was very impressed with how well it worked here .

Does anyone know if Telecom will be getting it this time around? Or will we be stuck with vodafail and their poor handset discounts??

@sinister1981 we would all like to know that one ..

Until we hear different we have to assume Voda are still the only NZ official carrier. If that is the case as with the iPhone 4, any launch day handsets they get will probably only be available to new customers or current customers upgrading and renewing. Of course you can still run your iPhone on other networks by getting one from Apple online etc.
Hopefully the telco’s will confirm details in the next few days.

@ Paul:
Hi there could you tell me if you had to pay customs on your australian imported iPhone 4S? I am wondering whether I should cancel mine and wait for the NZ launch… :-/ can’t wait lol

@yaman_nz one way to get round it is to get is sent as a present .. get who ever sends it to you wrapped up with a card . ( i can confirm this works )

The 64g is cheaper without gst in NZ than Australia and in the USA without sales tax is only $112.00 dearer. NZ gets a good price from Apple.
Siri will work fine as I’m also picked as an Australian when over seas.

Think I’ll pre-order on Friday, as much as I’d like to wait in line and get one I don’t trust Vodafone to have enough stock!

Awesome! Can’t wait! Do preorders normally get closed if the demand is high?

It would be good to know official carrier(s) plans prior to the presale but guess can order then cancel. Cripes who am I kidding, Vodafail will no doubt be drafting an announcement of an announcement to announce the iPhone 4S on November 20th (yes that is late)

Wrapped with a card… and what about declaring what it is? I don’t want my brother to lie about the contents of the package… can he just say a present without declaring it an iphone? like leave it blank? or doesn’t matter even if it’s an iPhone? Sorry for hassle lol and thanks for help! @ @Marvin_nz:

@ Paul: Yeah, I bought my last one from the Apple store because vodafails contracts were so bad at the time, it has been on Telecom prepay since the day I had it. Telecom’s contracts are actually becoming pretty good now so, it would be nice to be able to sign into a contract and pick up some sort of handset subsidy. They just need to supply the phone that I want….. Here’s to hoping!

@ Jiriteach:
No not in NZ. My iPad 2 arrived within the week of sales opening.

@ Yaman_NZ:
I had a friend bring my 2 in to NZ when he flew in. As I understand it yes you will be charged GST but worse than that customs will hold it until they “get round” to doing the paperwork. They held my iPad 2 for 4 days. As Marvin said to minimize the risk of customs flagging it and charging GST you should have it marked as a gift etc. this may or may not work.
