Take your iPhone to Xt and get $600*
In case you hadn’t heard Telecom don’t sell the iPhone, however they do want you on their network. They have been offering a $600 account credit when you bring your iPhone to XT (with certain terms) and in November last year they extended the offer in an effort to try an entice more iPhone customers to the network. This ended on 31st January, however due to popular demand they have extended the offer for 2 more weeks (from now) and it expires on 28th February. Keep reading to see more details of the offer and what you need to do to make the switch.
To be eligible for this offer you must have purchased your iPhone from NZ, either a retail store or the NZ Apple online store. This is due to the fact that iPhones that are sold from other countries may be locked. I am not sure how Telecom is verifying they are NZ iPhones, so if you did purchase it from elsewhere and it is unlocked then you may be able to make the switch, but be aware they may require proof of purchase.
To get the $600 credit you need to go on the One Rate 180 Double Talk Time plan (or above) for 24 months with an XT SIM. The One Rate 180 Double Talk Time plan is $81.73 per month and you get 360 minutes per month for the 2 years. If you feel like 2 years is too long then you can also opt for a 12 month term however you will only receive a $150 account credit and you don’t get the ‘double talk time’.
This offer is also available to existing customers, but if you are already in a term contract then you will pay the relevant termination fees.
Obviously once you have moved across you will need to set up your iPhone so that MMS and data work. To do that you can visit our ‘Manual Carrier Settings‘ page.
To make the switch you need to go in store and they’ll organise it for you.

Their plans are so expensive and don’t offer much… 2Degrees is MUCH more affordable… but I’m sticking with Vodafone for now coz of the 3gb…

Who needs all those minutes when one has an iPhone and Viber anyway?

I wish I could go back to Vodafone

Why do these Telco’s keep throwing Call minutes and txt’s at iPhone’s when really all we want is more data for less? Why don’t they have accounts where you pay a set rate and use that value in any way you want? Use it most on data and a few calls.
I’m sticking to 2Degrees prepay cause I can do exactly this. Top up and then use most of that money on data and use their free txts for the month and lower call rate. Works out a hell of a lot cheaper. BTW 2Degrees have changed their national data to $10/100mb or $6/50mb

So you own your iPhone4 outright & you want to lock yourself into a near $2000 contract only to get $600 back? Yeah I can just imagine them queuing for that deal. Either you’re middle-class and a moron (rich aren’t that stupid) or you you use excessive amounts of phone calls without utilizing other resources that are available, namely the many different forms of voip.
$20 every 1.5 months with 2degrees for mobile calling etc & Slingshot iTalk using Linphone (available free on the appstore) @ $11 per month with 500 minutes for international mobile/landline & national landline.
That’s $584 for 2 years of calling whoever I want and no tolls on my landline.
