I already had the Official All Blacks App… but that is now ‘demoted’ to a ‘lite’ version.
Since this App is sponsored by Adidas, not sure why fans have to now purchase the enhanced version that does not have an iPad universal app.
However I would purchase if iPad version was available.

The Official RWC 2011 App may not have as much AB detail and historical stats but great app http://itunes.apple.com/nz/app/official-rugby-world-cup-2011/id456197771?mt=8
sponsored by LandRover and hence free

I have to say, I think it’s disgusting that this is a paid app, and not just $1.29 either. It seems that anything to do with Adidas is tainted by their shameless greed. Shame on the AB’s brand for expecting their fans to cough up yet more dollars for something that really should be free. I am not aware of any other national team that is charging for their official iOS app.

Sorry Steve, have to disagree with you. Don’t see why it’s an issue, it’s less than a cup of coffee, the demoted lite version was a try before you buy at no cost and I couldn’t see anything that suggested that this is an Adidas app, just assuming they will have some licensing agreement for use of the logo.

App developers should be charging for quality content so they can be rewarded for their work and yes the companies that the contents come from which will be both NZRFU and Adidas should also be rewarded as if it wasn’t for them there would be no need for the app.

It’s the buyers choice at the end of the day. All the information is available on their website for free, just not in the format we want it delivered to us, so we have to paid for that service. I haven’t purchased the app because it doesn’t have the iPad version and the lite version has enough info for me and I have complimented them with other RWC apps which give me what I want.

By this logic, practically every app on the store would be chargeable – TradeMe, NZ Herald, Stuff, TVNZ… they’re all quality apps whose developers should be paid — and they were, but not by the end user. That’s how it should be here, too. Also, if you check out the reviews on the App Store, you’ll see that the live commentary did not happen and the ‘live scoring’ was not updated until the next day. In a paid app that’s inexcusable.
