Apples iPad Mini has snuck under the radar following the iPhone 5 release last month. Well it has popped up again and this time it is in the form of a media event announcement.
When rumours of the Mini first started earlier this year many people thought it would never happen. Why make a smaller iPad?
Well it seems that the Mini is in fact real and sources all over the world are confirming a date for the media event.
Carry on reading if your a Mini fan like me and want to know when the event is…
Clear your schedule, its in ten days time!
Many sources are confirming this morning that the media event for the Apple iPad mini will be on October 23rd.
All Things D is the source of this information, since their blog this morning, everyone is confirming this date.
October 10 was supposed to be when Apple sent out the invitations for the event, that date came and went without anything. Everyone was stunned and very confused but it appears the event has been pushed back to the 23rd because of production problems.
This event is just two days before Apple announces their fourth quarter earnings and days before Windows releases its new tablet and Windows 8. This shows that Apple seriously wants to stamp their mark in the small tablet sector.
There has been no confirmation from Apple but this looks legit to me.
I have been following the Mini and writing about it for months, the hype surrounding it has been much lower than other Apple products. Apple is clearly aiming to have a crack at other small tablets in the market, I will be interested to see how it goes. There is huge potential for the Mini within the smaller tablet market, if the Mini does well, Apple will be everywhere.
The small tablet market is growing extremely fast. The Mini will be up against products like the Kindle Fire HD tablet and Google’s Nexus 7. This will be an interesting battle because Kindle and Google have had a big head start.
All sources are sticking by the rumour that it will have a 7.85 inch screen, some companies are beginning to sell screen protectors for the Mini. There is no doubt that it will also house the Lightning connecter.
There have been some leaked photos over the last few months but the design is still very secret. Surely, it will be thinner than the iPad.
Earlier in the week there were stories saying that the Mini will only be capable of wireless connection. This rumour has not been confirmed but I would not be surprised.
Here’s an interesting point for you to ponder, will this device actually be called the iPad Mini? It seems as though the media has just coined this name. The name is extremely logical but perhaps a little too easy. Hopefully Apple comes up with something a bit cooler.
Because the event is only ten days away, invitations will be sent within the upcoming week. We will then have confirmation of this event and the time and place that it will occur.
