As Apple fans await the iPhone 5 announcement tomorrow morning, it seems that a lot of iPhone 4 users are listing them on Trademe in the wait of an upgrade.
I checked out trademe this morning and there are quite a number of recent listings of iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s.
The interesting thing is, the bulk of the listings are sitting around the $200-$400 mark. With the new iPhone 5 looking like it wont be a lot different from the iPhone 4/4s, paying $500 for an iPhone 4 is a bargin isn’t it?
To be honest I could not buy an iPhone 4 knowing that a newer and slightly upgraded version is just around the corner, but for those who want to jump onto the iPhone wagon this is a pretty good time to do it.
The listings on trademe which are going for the most money at the moment are the ones which have been factory unlocked. This allows the buyer to put in a sim card from any provider (Telecom, 2degrees, Vodafone) and away they go. Buying an unlocked iPhone would be a lot easier.
When the iPhone 4s came out, a lot of buyers were disappointed because no one could tell that they had the new iPhone not the old one. The iPhone 5 is likely to be slightly taller than the iPhone 4/4s, it will be interesting to see whether this is the only physical difference. Not long now

I’m sorry but I really hate your negativeness on the new iPhone in this post. It’s an unreleased phone, nobody knows anything (officially) about it, it could be a huge game-changer like the original iPhone and iPhone 4.
The 4S was a huge difference from the 4, it has a wicked camera on it, really fast, and all-new technologies like Bluetooth 4 and Siri. Physically there was no change, but why fix something that’s not broken? Companies all over were scrambling to make something thinner and lighter than the 4′s design, or copy it outright, and only the Galaxy S III (which was released in July of THIS YEAR, 2 years after the iPhone 4) beat it, being marginally thinner.
I think it’s good that you are showing people that the 4 and the 4S are going super cheap, and no doubt the price will drop on brand new iPhones in-stock in stores across NZ tomorrow, but come on – stop dissing a phone that hasn’t even been announced yet. We’re all huge Apple fans here and it’s slightly insulting.

Sounds like I have come across the wrong way here. I am also a huge apple and iphone fan. I will be looking to purchase the new iPhone.
I just simply noticed a few iphone 4 listings on trademe.

Err… do you know how trademe works? Just because the listings are sitting between $2-400 doesn’t mean they sell at that. Without even looking I can say that wont be what the auctions are closing at. 3GS units have recently still had pretty high resale value
