Read MoreApple’s free case program to end September 30th
Apple has confirmed today via the company’s website that the free case program for iPhone 4 is to end September 30th. The decision not to extend the expiry date of the offer has been made as Cupertino have found that the antenna issue has ended up being “even smaller than we originally thought” according to the information on the Apple US website. The program will continue to cover iPhone 4 purchases made up to and including that date, however, so even if you order now and the phone arrives in October you will still be eligible for a case. The 30-day refund policy will remain in place, however. Any bets that the white iPhone 4 will debut in October?!…

There’s no getting around it: Saturday morning’s earthquake was absolutely terrifying — being violently woken to a deafening rumble, the ground shaking and jolting beneath your feet, cupboards, drawers and their contents flying across the room and the sound of glass and breakables breaking and smashing all around is an experience I hope to never repeat. Read MoreFirst look: HDR cranks up the awesome factor on your iPhone 4′s camera: but is it real HDR?
One of the nice surprises at today’s Apple event was the addition of HDR (high dynamic range) to the camera app on the iPhone 4 in iOS 4.1. HDR is a photographic technique that blends together three photos taken at various levels of exposure and combines the best of all of them into one. A good explanation can be found on this site, but the result is a shot that captures both the shadows and the bright parts of a picture without washing out and detail. We’ve downloaded the 4.1 GM today and taken a few shots to put it through its paces.…
