Well folks, with just a couple of days left to go, we have been hard at work creating a carrier bundle for 2degrees. It will be available to everyone from the 4th so keep an eye on the main site for the post.
iPhone 2degrees Style
Get your iPhones ready for 2degrees! Here are the files you need if you want to optimise your experience on the 2degrees Network. The iPhone will work on 2degrees without these however it makes life easier.
Once loaded the file will do the following:
- Enable Data
- Enable Tethering
- Enable MMS
- Enable Voicemail Button (to call voicemail)
- Update Taskbar Logo

Hi I have an iphone 2G I downloaded your carrier package but now my phone will not work.
There is an image on my iPhone screen with the iPhone cable and is saying that the sim card is not correct, and to make an emergency call?
I removed my sim card and put in my Vodafone sim and it receives calls but the same image is showing even after resetting it
What should I do ??? is there anyway I can undo this?
Thanks

Well I loaded the 2D carrier bundle and all the settings look to be correct but I still can't seem to send MMS messages. I can get charged for them all right, but they don't leave the phone (3GS).
I emailed 2D with the following query…
_____________________________________________________
Hi there,
I’m trying to enable MMS messaging on my Apple iPhone 3GS with no luck so far; any suggestions?
So far, I have installed the 2degrees carrier bundle available at http://www.iphonewzealand.co.n…..er-bundle/
…and looked at the 2degrees settings page, but my phone is not listed there and my IMEI number (01 195200 522408 3) is not accepted by the page.
My current MMS settings are as follows…
APN 2degrees
Username
Password
MMSC http://mms.2degreesmobile.net.nz:48090
MMS Proxy 118.148.1.118:8080
MMS Max Message Size 614400
Can you send the settings to my phone remotely?
So far I have only succeeded in being billed for MMS messages but not actually sending any…

I received this helpful reply…
Thank you for contacting us.
As we don’t support Apple iPhone it’s best you contact Apple directly who will be able to assist you on 0800 MY APPLE.
Kind regards

Any thoughts?

I would get 2Degrees to check that your SIM is setup correctly….not mentioning the iPhone.

Could it be anything to do with the fact that I'm down here in delightful Dunedin and so essentially roaming on the VF network? Anyone in dear ol' Dunners been successfully getting MMS messages out on 2D?

2D have further advised "Please change your APN to MMS and the MMS Max Message Size with 2degrees can only be 300."
I'm presuming this means the max pic size is 300kb and I should change the 'MMS Max Message Size' setting to 37200 (as per VF?).
I have tried this with the result that MMS messages are now leaving the iphone (but are not displayed properly on the reciever's phone (also 2D), but that could be another story).
I have confirmed that I can receive MMS messages on my iphone and then return the received image to the sender and that all works fine. But if I try and send a pic taken with the iphone itself, it doesn't seem to work; makes me wonder if it's not something to do with files sizes and/or compression… Doesn't seem to be a carrier problem anyway. I have tried setting Max Message Size to 307200 (300k), 262144 (256kB) and 131072 (128kB); none of these MMSs got through – is there another setting somewhere I might need to alter?

Seems to be working now (Max Message Size currently set to 131072); also depends on the receiver's phone capability but MMSs are getting out from my end so it's all good

I have updated the 2Degrees carrier bundle. It will now hopefully show the 2Degrees logo in all areas, including ones where it used to show VodaNZ. Please could someone test this that is in an area where this happens. Unfortunately as we are in Christchurch it is not possible for us to test.
As I say it *should* work, but I can't say for sure.
Cheers
Dan

Hi Dan,
I've just switched over to 2D seeing they have their new data and txt plans. I've loaded the carrier bundle and all seems well, however the 2D logo doesn't show in the status bar. It shows 'VodaNZ', as per the photo.
I have an unlocked 3GS, jailbroken, firmware 3.1.2. And in the settings it says Carrier >> 2degrees 5.1, if that means anything.

If you could help me get the logo at the top, that would be excellent.
Thanks!

It depends where you are in the country. Because 2Degrees use Vodafone's towers in some areas then when you are connected to one of Vodafone's cell towers then it'll show VodaNZ.

Be aware those data packs will not work on VF roaming. To use their mobile broadband packs you need to be inside the 2° coverage zones shown at that link. Everywhere else you will need to buy the national date pack ($6 for 50mb)

I clicked on the link for manual settings because I'm using iOS 4.2.1 but the page it went to was blank. Where/how can I get the manual settings? When I updated to 4.2.1 it wiped all my settings so now I can't send pxt etc.
Also, does anyone know how to stop all my emails coming to my iPhone mailbox when I use Mail on the phone? I've given up on using Mail on the iPhone because I'd receive new emails as well as all the other emails I'd already received in Mail on my Mac. I'd like to use Mail on my iPhone but only if it receives unread emails.
