Hi guys – I am new to the whole iPhone thing so please be gentle!!
I have bought a secondhand iPhone 3gs 16GB. The previous owner got it from Vodafone (I have the original receipt). I have put in my 2degrees sim card and I can make and receive calls and text messages.
My question is that the phone dispalcys 'VodaNZ' and not 2degrees – is this correct? My previous phone (Nokia N96) used to display 2degrees on the front screen.
Also when I try and get the 2 degrees settings sent to my phone from here: http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/settings I put in all the details but the setting messages never come through – any ideas why??
All replies welcome.

2degrees use Vodafone network when outside it's own tower range. I have a iPhone 4 on 2degrees and mine also shows vodafone.
For settings download the app from this site and it should set it up properly.
I tried to get them to send settings for my ip4 but it wouldn't accept it as a current model in the search.

Thanks for the response. I wonder why my old N96 showed that it was 2degrees though in exactly the same place i.e. my house?
Also, does it show anywhere on the screen that it is using or has found a 3g network?

Yes, the iphone 4 uses the 900 3g (3g extended) band and picks up 3g through vodafone/ 2degrees (although 2degrees says to turn it off but it works). The iphone 3gs will only get 3g in main centres (Auckland, Wellington etc 2100 band) or if you are on telecom xt.
