Hi,  does anyone know of an app that I can use as a connections manager to turn 3G off?

I don't think any applications are allowed access to the phone settings.

Can I ask the reason for turning off 3G? I personally can't see any benefit.

If you want to prevent data usage then you need to turn off cellular data rather than 3G.

Turning off 3G has different effects for different carriers, although I suspect not the effects you are after.

-Vodafone, 3G data will not work, but you will still use data over the gsm network.

-Telecom, you will completely loose your cellular network connection, no data, no phone calls, and no messages.

-2Degrees, I'm not sure, but I suspect the effects are exactly the same as Vodafone.

Probably been reading battery tips – a lot of them say to turn off 3G if you're not using it to extend the life of a charge.
