Finally! Tomtom have released an upgrade, v1.4. Not before time too. At first glance it even looks as if the NZ map may have finally been dragged kicking and screaming into the current decade.

Hi I have MAJOR issues going on with this. App opens as normal, finds the address as normal, but it can't find a GPS signal – EVER.
Does anyone else have the same issues?
I have a 3GS with the new OS 4.0 and am using the New Zealand TomTom app with latest update v1.4.1. I never tried the app after the OS 4.0 update but before the TomTom v1.4.1 update so can't establish which update caused the fault. I have tried it with a car kit also and it still cant find a GPS signal.
(Side note- I don't use the car kit much as the app usually works fine without, have tomtomCar Kit Tool app which oddly says not docked even though in the iphone settings/ bluetooth it says it's connected, but this may of always been the case can't remember).
I'm very keen to know if anyone else has this issue as I now have a very expensive app which is useless.
PS Does anyone have a TomTom customer services number? They are very good at keeping it hidden if there is one.
**UPDATE**- Problem fixed. Updates somehow switched off Location Services in settings for that particular App. Thanks anyway – If anyone needs TomTom NZ number it's 0800 450 973

Hi – unfortunately I think your problem is due to the iPod Touch not having a GPS radio in it. The iPod can get location signals from fixed wifi points, but it doesn't have the ability to use GPS (AFAIK).

I have had the same problem with my 3g. TomTom have advised this is their last update for the 3g. I have found it does find a GPS signal after awhile. It only happens every so often and did happen before and after the latest update but only when I have the iPhone out of the car kit.
Sorry cannot help.

finnaly I've got some answers my iPod is a 2 generation(3 years old) I had ios4 and tom-tom 1.8 and it work great
then my iPod upgraded tom-tom to 1.9 which is only supported by ios5
ipod 2 generation cannot upgrade to ios5
you can get your apps ONLY from iTunes also they give you ONLY the new apps 1.9
the "old" 1.8 is obsolete and not available making your iPod 2g obsolete as well
conclusion I had no choice than to keep up with technology and buy a new iPod
if you don't get signal from your gps it is probably because of compatibility either iPod (or iPhone) versus the application or the system iOS

iPhone 4s is smaller in thickness than the 4. To be able to have the 4s work in the car kit you have to remove the small 4 rubber adapter and turn it over and glue the smooth face of the rubber adapter to the car kit to allow blue tooth to work.
