New to this forum and needing some advise. I have been trying to locate a program to convert 'ithmb' picture files from an iphone into JPEG format. 'ithmb' format is how they are delivered to itunes once you synce your phone. I have googled quite a bit and downloaded a few programs without any real success. I'm just looking for a free or cheap program.
Note: I have spoken to 'Mak' on this forum and he confirms this as a true iphone question. There was a previous misunderstanding.
Any help greatly appreciated.

I've never encountered a problem like this before, or even the ithmb format in question.

I wish I had not encountered it either. All the picture files on my phone come down into itunes. The problems is that each picture is made up of one windows folder. You open the folder and inside are two 'ithmb' files, which of course have no related program to open them within windows. I have read a few other forums and the problem does exist. It's just finding a decent program to download and convert.

It really surprises me that this program has not been encountered before. Do people not download their images to PC anymore. Or maybe I'm the windows user around.

Myself and Dan have Macs and the photos can be put there for exporting in any format, etc. No such native option for Windows.

Slimon I'm thoroughly confused by your post. When I take photos on my iPhone 3GS and connect it to a Windows machine, my iPhone appears as a camera and I can drag-and-drop the photos from the iPhone onto my computer. When I do this they are in jpg format and I can open them just like any other jpg file.
I am interested to know where you are seeing these 'ithmb' files but I have a hunch that you are poking around inside the iTunes folder on your computer and perhaps seeing the thumbnail files for your camera roll somewhere? Syncing pictures in iTunes is one way — i.e. for syncing photos *to* the photos app on your iPhone. To get your photos *from* your camera roll *to* your computer, you either open the 'camera' device that will appear in 'My Computer' on a PC or use 'Image Capture' or iPhoto etc if you're using a Mac.

You are completely right. I was totally just looking at it via iTunes. If I used my brain I would have treated the iphone just like any other USB connected device. Boy do I feel silly now. Thanks everyone for their help. Cheers,
Simon
