Anyone else had problems (error=-3524) when trying to download and install updates via PC?

Last 3 updates have all been difficult- they hung on the last 1kb of the download and then gave an error message) but I thought I new what to do this time: switch off any virus protection (!),  and firewall and deselect "allow simultaneous downloads" i n iTunes. But that's not working this time.

A friend has given me the downloaded update on a thumbdrive and explained how to SHIFT+click when asked where to download and update from to work around (will try that tonight and post a follow-up. But has anyone else had the problem and then managed to download successfully using only iTunes?

Maybe it's just me. and no digs about PCs please :-)
