Anyone else having issues with iMessage on their iPad?

I know there have been many discussions on the net about iMessage not working as advertised. I understand the iPad uses an email address to communicate and the iPhone can use the mobile number or email address.
The problem is, I get the iMessage conversation on both devices when I send from the iPad, but when I use my iPhone the conversations doesnt show in iMessage on the iPad.

If another person using an ios device sends a message using my email, it sends to both devices. If they use my mobile number, only my phone receives it. It seems I'm not alone with this problem.

I have changed my settings so my Caller ID on my phone has the same email address as my iPad but this doesn't fix the problem.

Is it a bug in iOS5? Does anyone else have the same problem?

I've been having the exact same problem.
My friend said that when she was iMessageing me on my iPhone it was showing up in a different thread under my email address.
Turned iimessage off on iPad and that didn't fix it, couldn't remove my email from iPhone and then I turned it off and it won't turn back on ( I'm still running beta7 though so might be something to do with that)
Hopefully they sort this out!

My understanding, from my own issues to start with, is:

- Messages sent to your cell number will always only go to the iphone as that is the only device that has a number registered to it

- Only messages sent to your email address will appear on both devices

- To get sent and received messages on both devices you need to have the same email address registered against imessage and the caller id set to that address on both devices.

- Occasionally this still doesnt fix it straight away but if you 'reset' messages app (double click home button and close the app fully) and do a restart of the devices (hold down power and home until it power cycles off and you see the spinning wheel), this then made it all work for me

@Camtab yip you are right, it seems to take a bit of time to sort itself out. Also discovered that you have to clear all your messages from your message/iMessage inbox because it doesn't pick up the new settings until you start a new conversation. It's a bit stink because it means you lose your all messages from people :-(
