I have been forewarned not to use my IPhone with my laptop as an internet connection, as some people have experienced their laptops/computers crashing as a result. Because of this feedback I have not attempted to do this, but would like to be able to. Can anyone advise whether there could be a problem with crashing or should it not be a problem. Your help would be appreciated. thanks

While I do not HAVE an iPhone to explicitly confirm this, I have not heard of anyone having such issues using bluetooth tethering with their iPhones so their computer can use the data connection. Where did you hear of this issue occurring?
Using either bluetooth tethering or tethering via WiFi (I think you can do it with a jailbroken iPhone) should not cause any computer to crash – my thoughts would be that such an occurrence would be a problem with the computers (I'm guessing such people are using a Windows PC, because I've never heard of such tethering problems with a Mac) WiFi radio driver, not the iPhone.

Mac it's all good 3GS cabled to hp lappy not worries. Biggest thing to watch is your data usage. BT uses more battery so o the cable.
