IF YOU UPGRADED TO 4.0.2 THIS NO LONGER WORKS, TOUGH LUCK. OTHERWISE,

Head to http://www.jailbreakme.com and slide the slider to begin the quick process.

All devices supported including iPhone 4.

oh yeah …
PDF fail :)

Try uninstalling Winterboard and see if your icons return? Then reinstall it. May have been a bad install?

Hmm sounds like an issue with the jailbreak then?

Short of restoring your phone and removing the jailbreak, try installing an app called "Poof" from Cydia, this app allows you to show or hide any icon on the springboard. Give it a whirl and let us know how it goes!

I'm glad it worked!

As a Jailbreaker you'll need to get used to the odd thing going wrong with your device, such as the springboard sometimes going into safe mode after you install a new app, but that's the first I've heard of all the icons disappearing. At least you're still up and running and haven't bricked it like some other unfortunates!
