First of all, I love the website. I'm new to the iphone world (well still new as it hasn't arrived yet!) so it's really good to have all this information in 1 place that is NZ centric.
The question i have is, say if I enable 3G on my iphone, if I come into an area with wifi (ie my home) would the iphone automatically switch to using wifi instead of 3G? (hence saving the usage of my 100mb?)
If not, what are your experiences to preserving your 100mb?

Your iPhone will automatically switch to wi-fi from 3G when you enter a wi-fi zone, provided you enter the correct wi-fi password. Your home wi-fi connection password should be saved on your phone so you won't have to re-enter it every time you come home, it will just pick it up and switch over. Same applies once you leave the wi-fi zone, it will recognize it automatically and switch to 3G.

Yep, on top left of screen it will either show 3G or Wi-Fi logo, either one or the other, never both logos at the same time. The iPhone is a very intuitive device.

Thanks :) although, i still have another question… when you first get your iphone and you plug it into itunes to sync, do you need to be able to access the net? Am currently away from home, so been using those usb sticks to access the net and unfortunately my laptop is an air, hence only 1 usb port available…

Yep, the first time you connect your iPhone to iTunes you need to connect it to the internet.

I can't remember, but I can't see any reason why you would need the internet to activate your iphone for first use?
Maybe you do, but you definitely need the net to do any updates of firmware ( obviously )
