This topic will contain help for the XT carrier bundle.

Here is the first Help point:
Please Note: If using Internet Explorer, when the Save file dialogue comes up it will say “Save As: Telecom_nz.ZIP” and the drop down box below will say “WinZip Files”. You need to change the drop down to say “All Files” and change the extension in the file name from .zip to .ipcc.

To start with, I assume you have put the batch file in the correct place. When you run the batch file it is very quick, you may not even see the command prompt come up. Have you tried iTunes to see if you can select the ipcc file when you hold shift and click check for update?

Hey all
I am trying to install the XT carrier bundle and have followed all the .pdf instructions but when I press shift+check for updates, I just can't find the file in the itunes folder (yes I changed the file type to iPhone carrier configuration files) – It just isnt there!
Any help would be much appreciated :)

The file isn't located in the iTunes folder, it is located in the bundle you downloaded from the site. Navigate to the folder you extracted and you will see folders for "standard logo" and "XT logo" inside there you will find the ipcc file

I unfortunately down loaded the 3.1 firm ware update when I was working in the US, once I returned to New Zealand I tried to use the phone on the XT network only to find as made apparent on this web site Apples soft ware up date had disabled functions of my 3gs I phone.
Hope you guys are able to find away around this annoying and possibly uncompetitive software update, the xt carrier bundle off this site worked great until this annoying update. Now I have limited functions on a unlocked phone that I brought of the apple store that is supposed to work on any network.
Good luck with the carrier bundle fix around the 3.1 update, I for one would be happy to pay for a carrier bundle update.

Thanks for the carrier bundle it worked great until my phone was upgrade to 3.1. I know that tethering doesn't work with 3.1 but I thought MMS should still work? All of my MMS setting appear to be correct but the camera icon in the SMS app is no longer there?

Have you inadvertently switched off MMS under Settings->Messages->MMS Messaging?

I've just switched to Telecom and I've downloaded the bundle software to make the voicemail icon work. I see it refers to itunes 8.2. I'm currently running 9.0.2. should I go ahead and install from this bundle or is there another update Ishould be using?

Hi… I finally decided to make the move to XT and have just completed the carrier bundle update following the PDF instructions. I'm using the iPhone 3GS 3.1.2 and iTunes 9.0.1.8 (installing from Windows)

I installed the XT logo bundle and now have the XT logo showing, 3G data is working and all the settings appear to be correctly there under settings. At first however it wasn't working because I had 'Data Roaming' turned off… which I didn't need turned on for Vodafone but perhaps XT requires that? Anyway switching on got 3G Data working.

The problem I'm having though is texts… they time out with 'Message Send Failure' and red exclamation. I saw another post about this which said to check 'Show Subject Field' is 'Off'… which it is. MMS is switched 'On'. So I tried an MMS (to myself at least) and interestingly it worked.

I switched 'Show Subject Field' to 'On' and sent a regular text, entering something into the Subject Field and it sent fine… I assume that must send texts using MMS when switched on? If I leave the Subject field empty I get the 'Message Send Failure'.

Any suggestions? I've re-installed the bundle a second time and restarted the phone also. Is there a post somewhere with the manual settings so I can double check they are correct?

Thanks very much, Jon

If some of the settings got set, all of them would have got set. Manual settings could have been found from simply navigating the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) tab at the top of the website.

Good luck.

Hi Mak thanks, I see how I missed those… for some reason the drop down menu when I mouse-over the FAQ menu doesn't instantly drop down for me every time, so I had just been clicking on FAQ without seeing the 'Manual Carrier Settings'. But yep "…all the settings appear to be correctly there under settings". I also looked through the posts on the bundle page for possible alternatives which I see a few people noted such as using internet.telecom.co.nz instead of wap.telecom.co.nz but I've tried that and still no joy.

I was just hoping there might be some other suggestions or someone might have heard of this before? Similar problems posted however seem to be the opposite where text works but not MMS.

Perhaps I'll just call telecom next and see if something has not been set properly at their end.

Thanks, Jon

Fixed: I called Telecom and explained the issue (above)… the lady prodded around for a bit at the settings on my account until suddenly I got cut off, she must have reset something before she got a chance to warn me. So I called back from landline and the guy I talked with had a look and said it all looked ok at their end although he couldn't see me connected to the network and my phone was showing 'no service' even after resetting network settings and rebooting. He went to try get hold of someone else and while on hold I my phone reconnected, tried a text and success, all sorted. When I came off hold it was the lady who I was originally speaking with and she said that yes it turned out to be a network issue.

I never got a detailed explanation but one other thing which may have been related is when I was waiting for my Vodafone to go offline yesterday I called the Telecom shop who did my transfer for an update, they said the transfer was complete and I was good to go… (which should have meant my Vodafone account was then inactive)… I explained that my Vodafone account was still active and working which completely baffled them. So I popped my Telecom sim card in and sure enough calls to my landline were showing my Vodafone number correctly. So somehow my vodafone number was working on both networks at the same time. Strange.

Anyway off to start texting (I didn't realise how much I rely on it till I didn't have it for 12 hours!) Laugh

Hi, I'm new to this sort of thing. I hope I'm in the right place.

I've repatriated to NZ with a 3GS (3.12). My US carrier was AT&T. Prior to coming back, I contacted AT&T, Vodafone and Telecom. Vodafone and Telecom NZ said my phone would work if it was unlocked. AT&T, Vodafone and Telecom NZ refused to unlock it. I applied jailbreak software and unlocked it.

I took it to Telecom NZ and set up a new account, installed the SIM card and they sent me home with your web site to complete the process by downloading the XT configuration files. I was able to follow your instructions but, at the last step, the iPhone showed the "connect me to iTunes" image. When I did that, iTunes said it was not valid and I was unable to do anything. I took it back to Telecom NZ who "Restored" it to some generic profile but was unable to load the configuration files. I called Apple people who said, more or less, "Tough."

I've now re-installed the AT&T SIM and restored it to my previous image. I guess I can re-apply the jailbreak and unlock processes and then re-install the XT SIM. But, then what?

I would appreciate your advice.

Thanks,
