Am hoping someone can help me with my problem. Have just switched to XT from 2degrees and all my contact names have disappeared from the Messages app. When I type in the contact name to txt it automatically change it back to the cell phone number and doesn't register it is a contact I already have in my contacts.
Does anyone know how this could be fixed? It's slowly driving me insane as I don't know my friend's numbers of by heart and now have to read a lot of the conversation before I understand who it is that txted me back.

Hi – this seems to be an occasional glitch that gets thrown up either by an iOS number formatting recognition bug or a phone carrier setting bug… or it could be a problem with the way your contacts are formatted. As a suggestion of a possible short-term fix, if you scroll to the top of a message thread and tap on 'Add Contact' then add it to an existing contact and choose the correct person for that message thread, then it 'should' add the right format of number to that persons contact details and then recognise the number in the future…. hopefully.
