Hi there,

I'm trying to sort my dads MMS woes…He has a 3GS. He's on a contract with telecom for his business, so put in an xt sim card, i changed the network settings so it'd work on xt. from day one (which has now been awhile, in hindsight!) he has neeeever been able to send MMS. it gets to the final little bit while sending the picture, then gets the red exclamation mark. it didn't work on 3.0, still doesn't work for him on 4.0. all the apn settings are correct…He thought it might get 'fixed' in the ios4.0 update, but it didn't (of course). So he took it into the local telecom where he said the woman behind the counter refused to help him, citing the 'it's not one of our phones, i don't know HOW to work it,' etc. for some unknown to me reason he then took it to vodafone, who were more helpful and said it was strange, but they couldn't help because it wasn't on their network. Is there any reason anyone out there cna think of that it would send txts, access the internet, and do everything else other than mms??? he wants me to fix it for him, but i have no idea how to do so!

thanks for your time in advance :) and also thanks for all of the carrier bundles/info – this site is blimmin helpful!

All settings as suggested on this site. Everything else goes well

I believe you a missing a line of script in your settings. It should read…

MMS

APN internet.telecom.co.nz

MMSC http://lmmsc.xtra.co.nz

MMS Proxy 210.55.11.73:8080

MMS Max Message Size 61440

Hope this works for ya

Hi Pete

You are showing the MMSC line as a link. I have that line there now but should I create it as a link in the iPhone settings?

How?  Copy and paste from this site?

Hi Pete

I have that line and all the others

It'a shame that the phone does not generate error messages but this is just i item and email works fine. It's still the best device I have ever had.

When you send a pic the progress bar gets almost to the end and then freezes.

What phone do you have and what network are you on?

Cheers

I have an iphone 3gs which has worked fantastically on Telecom XT
until Itunes updated it with the 4.0 update.  Now I cant use the
voicemail features (I really need), I cant picture message anymore and I
can only email via wi/fi.  Mobile emailing has stopped.  I speak to
Apple they say its down to telecom and I speak to Telecom and they say
that its not a supported phone (even though they have been happy to have
me onbaord on a two year contract.

What can I do to get my functions back?  Any help would really be appriciated.

Hi Pete, thanks for your suggestion but I have put all of this information into his 3GS from day one of purchase, didn't help with MMS then, doesn't now! Confused any other suggestions?

Hi Rooster, the carrier bundle unfortunately does not work on iOS4 AFAIK but if you get a V3 Sim card from a Telecom store the Voicemail button should be fixed (The MBDN is filled in). If you have a V1 (the black sim) then the upgrade is free however if you have a v2 (white) then the standard replacement sim cost ($20) applies. Also try deleting the carrier settings (Settings > General > Network > Mobile Data Network, then at the bottom tap reset settings), then entering them again (from below), then do a reset (hold lock and home button down until the iPhone turns off) and you should be golden.

Pete The Dog: I couldn't help but notice your settings were slightly incorrect, they should read:

APN: internet.telecom.co.nz

MMSC: http://lsmmsc.xtra.co.nz (should be lsmmsc not lmmsc)

MMS Proxy: 210.55.11.73:8080

MMS Max Message Size: 614400 (should be 614400 not 61440)

bea3265 try erasing the carrier settings (Settings > General > Network > Mobile Data Network, then at the bottom tap reset settings) entering these settings then do the reset.

Hope this helps :D

Hello everybody,

I've just noticed the same issue this morning when I tried MMSing a contact and it just ended up with a red exclamation point.

Also tested with a picture – sent ok

Settings are ok.

I just upgraded my SIM to a V3 which restored VM functionality.

So I can't figure out if it's a fault or just related to the receiving network/device not liking the business card format sent by the iphone.

Dan, Steve, Mak, any ideas??

Hey guys thanks very much for the info but i've now found a simple work around with the new ios4 update and it does work:

There are 2 stages:

1/  On the PC go to http://www.iphonewzealand.co.n…..ns-xt.html and click on the ‘Continue to
settings’ link.  Then type those settings
into your iphone exactly as they appear.
Go -  ‘ Settings’ – ‘General’ –
‘Network’ – ‘Mobile data network’.
Taking care to put them in the correct boxes.

 2/
To set up your voicemail function again (this time as an icon on your
iphone homescreen) go back to http://www.iphonewzealand.co.n…..ns-xt.html
and this time click
on the ‘Voicemail number’ link.  Type
carefully the address in your PC’s web address bar (at the top of the pc
screen) into your ‘iphones’ web browser.
Once it’s loadedon your phone, click the ‘Cancel’ option as it pops up
and then click the + sign (bottom of your iphone screen) to add the new
voicemail logo as a shortcut to your iphones home screen.

That’s it all
Done!

I  had spent to very annoying days on the phone to various Apple techs but after 10 minutes on the phone to a very helpful young lady at Telecom, it was resolved!  Please pass it on!

Hi Rooster

This seems like the original carrier bundle that is not supposed to work with IOS4?

Has something changed and can you do MMS?

Cheers

I changed from a Nokia 6120 Classic almost three weeks ago to an iPhone 4 with iOS 4.2.1 running on XT and it seems like many others are having much the same frustrations as I with voicemail, MMS and Bluetooth to name BUT a few.

So far I've only managed to the get the voicemail issue sorted by having to contact Telecom on *123.  In the end they had to completely remove it then, had to set it up as a new.

I've spent the good part of this weekend trying to sort out the issues with not being able to send or receive an MMS/PXT – Ever since I’ve had my iPhone 4 (it’s almost been 3 weeks) I’ve never been able to.

I tried to send & receive MMS from another phone on XT and on the Vodafone network and THANKS to the wonderful and helpful postings on various websites and here especially Laugh  I’m NOW able to receive MMS from both XT and Vodafone, but I’m STILL unable to SEND ANY MMS.

I’ve re-entered and re-checked the settings several times, and reset my iPhone 4 and re-entered the settings several times also and still I have no joy in sending an MMS.

Can anyone help further with "this particular" issue  Confused

I'm going to ask the obvious question. Is MMS actually turned on? If in the new message screen you don't have a camera icon then I'd say it's not.

Go to – Settings>Messages and turn it on

Lol…Hi ya, an obvious question yet valid however, i check its on prior to tryin to send/receive & the camera icon shows each & every time. Like other users, when I try sending an MMS I press send & it starts to send then when its almost to the end of the progress bar it freezes then after about 15 sec a red exclaimation mark appears. It doesn't seem to matter whether I use an existing or create a new image either.
