Shift Click on "Check for Update" doesn't work for me

I am using itunes version 9 and have followed the instructions very carefully to apply the carrier bundle, but when I shift-click on "check for update" it does the standard thing and advises me that my software is up to date – it doesn't display the file open dialogue box to allow me to select the carrier bundle file. I've tried a zillion things – any clues on what I'm doing wrong? Yes, I've run the batch file successfully inside the itunes program folder. Everything works just as in the manual up to this point.

Are you using Mac or PC?

If on a Mac, Press Option instead of Shift.

I don't have a PC but do you have any other action assigned to Shift?

No – I can't think of any reason why it shouldn't work as described. Maybe I just need to take it in to a Telecom store and have them do it.

You *are* kidding, right? Telecom will just refer you back to our site. I can think of no good reason why you wouldn't be able to do the shift update, my gut tells me the batch file hasn't done its thing for some reason. Do you have access to a friends PC / Mac or one at your workplace? You can install the carrier bundle from any computer, it doesn't need to be the one you're going to be syncing with.

Thanks for that – I tried it on my wife's computer and it worked perfectly, so something must be screwed on my computer.

Thanks for the help and very much looking forward to a proper solution (one day) for tethering. I just moved from Vodafone to Telecom because Vodafone 3G coverage was non existent almost everywhere I went other than main metropolitan areas and had no idea I would lose tethering in the process. Cheers.
