It keeps telling me that "cannot connect to voicemail. please contact your service provider" when I click on voicemail on my phone. I've just switched back to XT from 2deg, I've udpated all the settings I needed to, used the app and tried the few things in there for voicemail, but nothings working?
What is this dumb broard doing wrong LOL

The voicemail function does not work on XT. You can either add the voicemail number to your phonebook, or add a shortcut to your home screen – http://www.iphonewzealand.co.n…..-settings/
I have completely switched the voicemail function off via the your.telecom website as I found the whole thing a pain in the arse. Plus, the amount of times I had to check my voicemail and get charged 20c for the privilege, only to end up with two seconds of someone fumbling to hang up irritated the hell out of me! - http://www.iphonewzealand.co.nz/2011/all/checking-your-telecom-on-your-iphone-now-comes-with-less-pain/

You must have an old SIM? The v3 SIM which was released about a year ago enables the voicemail button. Read about it in this article:
http://www.iphonewzealand.co.n…..mmicrosim/
EDIT: Telecom will probably swap you to a latest version SIM if you explain your dilemma to them in store. I did last year for no charge.

Yeah same for 3GS(that's what I have). You hopefully won't have to buy a SIM pack. They gave me a new SIM for free, they just have to program your number to it and it'll change over in a short time. Pull the old sim out and pop the new one in!

Awesome, thanks heaps. I'll head into the Orb store here today and see what they say. Won't hold my breath, the store here doesn't seem as helpful as others I've been into in larger cities.
Will post back with an update :)

Decided I'd ring before I went – was going for a walk first and then planned to call into telecom on the way home.
The girls goes oh no that'll cost you to get a new sim card for an iphone. me "Ok so I have to pay for a new sim card, when the other one doesn't allow me to use certain features on my phone?" Hmmm well ew could do it as a faulty sim then it wouldn't cost.
So I walked in, dealt with a great guy, didn't cost a cent! And now I'm up and running on a V3.
thanks for the help!!!
