So I got my iPhone 4 yesterday, and also got a micro-SIM card from Telecom. Put it in, synced it with iTunes, everything hunky dory. But it came up with "Waiting for Activation. This may take some time". Thought it would take 10 minutes, but a day later it still says "No Signal" at the top, and if I go into About -> Network it says "SIM not provisioned"
Is it normal for it to take sooooo long? I've tried taking the SIM out and putting it back in, switching Airplane mode on and off a couple of times, even resetting it, but no avail.

You have to also activate through iTunes. It's a separate process to syncing.

But nothing happens when I connect it to iTunes, other than it syncing

Double check your carrier settings. Turn off the phone and then turn back on…try that
