when installing the XT carrier bundle i got as far as click "check for updates" on my summary page, but it only says "update" any ideas?

There should be both an Update and Restore button. You want the Update button.

You need to hold down the shift key and click the Update button.

If that does not work you need to enable it by doing the steps outlined in the guide. Make sure you have the latest iTunes.

Once you select the bundle from the window that will popup, the phone will update and within a few seconds the new settings will be loaded and working.
